I'm running an Eberron campaign currently and will be sending my party of 6 players to Xen'drik and then later, Frostfell. I've read through the Secrets of Xen'drik sourcebook and it listed some interesting and fun encounter ideas to use, but I thought a better place to find them would be on these boards! I feel that there are some very creative people on these boards that may have run some encounters in these areas and have some good ideas. Party level will be 9th - 10th in Xen'drik and 10th - 11th in Frostfell. I'm looking for entire encounter ideas, not just monsters or NPCs to throw at the party. I plan on focusing on drow, yuan ti, giants, lizardfolk and naga in Xen'drik and then giants and undead in Frostfell. Any help with some ideas is appreciated!

I think you're doing quite well. Perhaps throw ancestral Dwarves into the mix in Frostfell.

I don’t know if you are looking for anything in particular. If you are interested in something that other people have run, then our DM ran a frost giant encounter that was fun. We needed information about an ancient giant burial site that hid a magical weapon we needed called the Moonspear. The only way that we were going to get it was from their primitive descendants.

Our DM had them living a peaceful existence in a huge Eskimo ice village. The men (giants) of the village would go out on fishing trips in one-man giant sized kayaks. They would hunt seals, small whales, walrus, or any large marine mammals to feed the villagers. They had one 4 man (giant) boat that they would use to net fish. One of the giants said that he saw something huge deep under the water. It was too deep to clearly make out, but it was completely still as it watched him for a while then it disappeared.

The problem for the giants was that they are starving because a monster has started to hunt them. Whenever a fisherman went beyond the sight of the village, they never returned. Any traps that they set were avoided.

Turns out one of the frost giants was a were-orca. Actually one of the chief's sons. The Chiefs name was Denilgi (moose) and the chief's son was Arrluk (killer whale). If we had spoken Eskimo we would have known who the bad guy was a lot sooner, but the only hints we had was in his appearance (white sections of skin on his exposed skin and a completely bald head). We had to uncover the truth and hunt the bad guy to the burial site (turned out to be half full of water, but above out heads). We recovered the spear, froze the bad guy in a glacier, returned to the village as heroes.

Odd end to the story, because we killed (sort of) the bad guy our characters including a Mineral Warrior Warforged Juggernaut had to marry giantesses from the village. This included the widow of the guy we just killed and adopt his kid (who was showing indications of being a natural lycanthrope).

Good times.

That's a great encounter idea, DM, thanks a lot! That's the exact kind of thing I'm looking for... interesting encounter ideas, not just monsters to throw at the party. I might snag that for when I do Frostfell.

The Frostburn source book also has some excellent pre-made encounters for frostfell adventures.
