I read something on Candlekeep saying they'd been cancelled...is there any truth to this?

I would seriously doubt it as keith is currently working on one and there are at least two other series where book 3 is due out later this year.

I would highly doubt that as well. Kieth has his second Thorn novel out in November, and the second novel in Don Bassingthwaite's new trilogy is out next month. The last novel in Parker DeWolf's Laternlight Files is set for release in a couple of months. Beyond that Tim Waggoner and Paul Criley are both schedule for new novels next year, and there I haven't seen anything official on canceling those novels from WotC.

I'm honestly not sure how up to date this PDF is, but it is worth looking at...

I think it's less likely a malicious rumor and more likely a misundersanding concerning there being no new Eberron sourcebooks after the EPG and ECG.

I agree. The vast majority of FR fans aren't petty enough to start spreading malicious rumors about WOTC's other golden hen.

Actually, what you're probably thinking of is that, last year, several of WotC's fiction lines were canceled and/or reorganized. The new Ravenloft line was canceled (which is why my own RL novel Black Crusade is only available online, for instance; whimper). The new "Discoveries" line was canceled. And some Eberron books--such as further installments in the Inquisitives series--were canceled. But not all Eberron novels were cut.

May not mean anything, but it looks like the WotC Spring 2010 catalog (Jan - April 2010) doesn't mention any Eberron novels:
http://www.enworld.org/forum/general-rpg-discussion/259944-details-wizards-coast-2010-spring-catalog.html

Were there any Eberron novels scheduled to be released during that timeframe?

Doesn't mean they are canceling anything. The Eberron novels may be slated for a Fall release, as most bestselling novels are.

There's little chance those wouldn't be released, as they actually sell decently well as Eberron Novels go. I believe the Don Basingwaithe novels are pretty universally loved, and pretty much the same for Keith's novels. - they're the Salvadore and Greenwood of Eberron. Sooner or later the Basingwaithe books will hit the best seller's lists, like the Drizzt books did years ago - those didn't start selling like crazy right away - neither did the dragonlance novels.

The thing that's most likely to keep Eberron novels alive is, well, sales. The fact of the matter is that the majority of the bookstores I've visited don't carry The Queen of Stone. I know that many of the people I've visited didn't even know it existed. If people don't know it exists, it doesn't sell. If it doesn't sell, there's no incentive to to make more. I hope the series will at least get a third book, but unless sales pick up on QoS and The Son of Khyber, I think the third may be the last.

So if you'd like to see more writing from me, the best thing would be to check out The Queen of Stone. ;)

Well i for one can thoroughly recommend 'Queen of Stone' - downright awesome read !

As for Hellcow's comments on bookstores - you are so right sir ! I can never find Eberron novels in the UK bookstores and i buy from Amazon. I also regularly visit the USA on business trips and i always check out the bookstores. Normally i can find lots of FR novels which i really dont want and if im lucky for every 20 or so FR novels i might find 1 Eberron - what gives book store owners ????

Ordinarily i would say yes but in my experience the FR novels only tend to be last 2 years releases and usually multiple copies of each - sadly the same can't be said for the Eberron novels otherwise there would be i believe comparable numbers.

I appreciate the book store owners have got 'history' with FR novel sales but they have to at least give Eberron novels a chance otherwise they will never get decent sales from them.

This is a simple and sad truth, and worst of all the book's own author said it. My local Borders on average has one maybe two Eberron novels and then a shelf full of DL and FR. The two B&Ns and the B.Dalton are a bit better when it comes to the Eberron selection but I know I'm going to have to special order all of the Eberron books this fall.

Don't worry Keith, I am eagerly awaiting Son of Khyber. In fact since reading about the Son of Khyber in the ECG and having just reread the three Dreaming Dark books I am hoping he is who I think he is.

In my town I can usually find no more than 6 Eberron novels in any one store (individual copies). It disappoints me. Queen of Stone was a fun read, and what I've read of Storm Dragon is great. I can't find a single copy of the Dhakaan or Inquisitive books anywhere.

Really guys? Where I live, the bookstores (2 Borders and 2 Barnes & Nobles in my immediate area) generally have a couple full shelves devoted to Eberron books in each store. FR still has about four shelves on average, but both settings seem to be well represented in diversity of their novels wherever I go. Are stores like mine really so uncommon?

It used to be this way were I live when I started reading Eberron a few years back. The B&Ns and B.Dalton would keep two or three copies of each Eberron book on the shelf, but over the last year and a half they slowly stopped re-ordering Eberron books as they sold, and rarely have copies of new books the day of release. I had to special order Doom of Kings, Queen of Stone, and When Night Falls to be able to get them in a timely fashion last fall. In fact I need to go to B&N today and have them order Word of Traitors so I know I copy will be waiting for me September 1st.

I'm in a similar boat. The Eberron novels are there when they come out at my local Chapters, but go back two months later and the selection is pretty grim, so I think they are finding they sell well to start with but have little in the way of shelf life once the initial sales are made.

I actually went to B&N today, as I said I needed to do, to order Word of Traitors. Got that on order as well as Son of Khyber (can't wait!), but they didn't have Death Comes Easy in their system. I couldn't find it on the B&N website before going their, so I just was hoping it was their site. Amazon also doesn't seem to have anything for it, other than a page. That's something at least. Queen of Stone, Storm Dragon, and the Doom of the King series have been great.

Keith I apologize for kissing @*#. But, I love what you did with Medusas so far through your novels and Droam in general. Because, of Queen of Stone my brother is quite intent on having the PCs running into Xorchlyc (Spelling?). Though, I have feeling the PCs already have since the woke up with no memory of who they were in a cell in the Graywall arena.

My only gripe is that the ending really caught me off guard.

But, anyways keep writing up stuff on Droam I love it. If I could make any suggestion I'd love to see more Valenar characters. Gotta get more material for my Valenar Barbarian (Member of the Dalan Rael).

I gave up on looking in stores for the books. Unless you grab most of the Eberron books when they first come out, they tend not to be there after a month or two. I simply go to amazon.com and order my books through them. Takes roughly a week with cheap-o shipping for the books to get here, but it is how I got the Inquisitive series in its entirety. Pity they aren't doing anything more with the series.

Show

As for the QoS, it was a good read, don't know if I like the twist with Thorn but I'm more than willing to stick with the series to see how it develops. Also the development on Lycanthropy was pretty darn good imo, so I think I'm going to incorporate it into my campaigns now.

Hey, thanks very much! I do aspire to some day hit those lists.

Look forward to it, the only problem is Mr. Bassingthwaite is that every time a new novel of yours comes out I spend the month leading up to it rereading your old novels... and that reading list just keeps getting longer.

Good problem to have though, last one left such a cliffhanger, the suspense is killing me.

Of course that's nothing on how long we've been waiting on the cliffhanger of Keith's third novel.

For all those that lament the lack of novel coverage in your respective realms, you should try living in Western Oz for a while... *cue shriek of horror*

I only got into Eberron a little while ago, which isn't helping my search. Found my own copy of Queen of Stone in a Waldenbooks . . . but I kick around a lot of bookstores and it is looking increasingly like I got the last copy in the entirety of Massachusetts' South Shore area. And other Eberron books are also scarce. Only managed to buy and find Book I of both the Lost Mark and Dragon Below series, and I also picked up Bound by Iron . . . but other than that, rather thin. Maybe 2 of 7 stores lacked Eberron books completely. My inability to easily continue the aforementioned series is . . . grating.

Still, I'll hunt them down sooner rather than later. As long as I'm receiving good product I'll keep handing over money. :D

Reading all this akes me glad I got into Eberron when I did, so many people having trouble getting the novels. My one big hope is that there will be a paperback version of Dragon War. I just can't push myself to buy the hardbacks of those when I'm shoveling money up for all the D&D hardback supplements.

By the way, can anyone confirm the October 6th release date for Death Comes Easy on Amazon? I'm wanting to get the book from B&N, but as I said earlier, it isn't even in their system...

Well In Norway we have one chain of shops dedicated to gaming. And That is the only one that sells fantasy books that are not mainstream. So if you say that you read fantasy to a norwegian, he is going to think "LotR" "Erragorn" and maybe if you find one with geeky friends, "Wheel of time".

I find most of the bookstores around here do get one or two of the new eberron books when they first come out, but never reorder them (notwithstanding the huge Chapters store, which does at seem to try to keep most of them in stock) But I have pretty much all the Eberron Novels I want, that are out at least. I really should grab the last book in the lost mark trilogy if I see it around, and maybe the first book in the James Wyatt trilogy.
I also hooked one of my players on the Geth books, and probably would have been Keith's too, if my girlfriend's little brother would ever finish it :P

I've got to admit when I first bought it week of release, it just didn't take with me for some reason. I am very excited about this.  I have about 70 pages left in Doom of Kings.  I wanted to refresh myself before Tuesday.  Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to finish it and get started on Word of Traitors because I have a paper on Arkansas slave family life due in a little over a week and I have never written a paper from a historical perspecitve.

I feel my nominalist interpretive look of the world is going to be vastly different than what the instructor wants from the paper. I am trying to get it done ASAP so I can have him look it over and then make changes.  Why oh why must the things I actually want to read come out when I have other readings that must be done?  I'm just hoping my papers for linguistics and anthropological thought don't get in the way of Death Comes Easy or Son of Khyber, or I may just have to wait until the winter break to catch up

Ah, you're going to make me think too early in the morning to figure out exactly what "nominalist interpretive" is when applied to anthropology (clearly I've been out of university too long!), but when I did my anthropology degree lo these many years ago, the occasions I took a material history course were usually marked with a clash with the prof on approach.

Now I use the anthropology degree (and the material history courses) to make up stuff about hobgoblins and orcs!

That actually made me chuckle a little, but it is cool none-the-less.  I actually talked with the teacher about it and he said as long as it reads well he doesn't care too much.  the best thing that happened today is that while I was printing out some class work the local B&N called saying my copy of Word of Traitors is in and I can't wait to pick it up!  Debating whether or not I should eat dinner before I go.

It's really wierd though, I have degree in communication which is a subdiscipline of anthropology but there are too few times when the paradigms I use in my writings come up at all in anthropological writings... maybe I am just strange.
