He can be a follower (cultist) of a Radiant Idol which has proclaimed itself as the deity of love.
#5 Hellcow Sep 20, 2009 8:30:10	In the Sovereign Host, love is divided into aspects, just as Dol Dorn, Dol Arrah, and The Mockery share war. Boldrei governs devotion and fidelity. Olladra governs revelry and pleasure. And the Fury governs raw passion. However, depending whether you're talking about physical love or philosophical love, you could make a case for a particular approach to the Silver Flame (remember that compassion is one of the key virtues of the Flame) or Path of Light.

And this is the key point where the Sovereign Host is truly worshipped as a pantheon, as opposed to individual deities. Boldrei blesses the union of lovers and their desire to raise a family; but it is Arawai who grants the mother fertility, and Olladra who brings joy to their bed (unless they give way to the full passion of the Fury). Some clerics of the Host specialize in a single deity, just as you had the oracles of Apollo in Greece. A paladin might be called specifically by Dol Arrah or Boldrei. But the typical priest of the Host is taught to intercede with all of them on behalf of his flock. With that said, just as you have the subsect of the Three Faces of War, I think an order specializing in the goddesses of love makes perfect sense.
#8 Gurv Sep 27, 2009 13:11:51	Depending on how much work you want to put into personalizing your Eberron, you could also create saints and sects devoted to whatever concepts you require. My own campaign went the mainstream route of relating the Silver Flame with Catholicism, so if I wanted a love priest, I would create a version of Saint Valentine. Of course, such a saint need not be a mortal human when things such as angels, couatl, and dragons are running around. I imagine that since settlements who follow the Host focus on the deities to differing degrees, it would be almost more common to run into Triads such as Hellcow suggests. It might be interesting to play a Sovereign cleric who worships the pantheon, but dedicates himself to a particular instance of cooperation between three gods who aided the cause of mortal love. As a DM, my first question to a player who wanted to play a  "love cleric" would be: what adventures do you see such a character going on? I can imagine several...but unless you're planning on creating adventures to fit this PC, it might lead to difficulties. Why will this "adventurer" go on quests that do not focus on love?
#9 salla Sep 27, 2009 20:53:41	If one views hate as the opposite of love, the cleric could easily be going adventuring to stop crimes of hatred and that sort of thing.  Admittedly, saying 'You!  Stop hating!' while smacking someone over the head with a mace seems a little hypocritical, but that's life. Or, go with the shielding/super-pacifist cleric build.
#10 PJammaGod Sep 29, 2009 1:22:12	I guess it's ultimately up to each Vassal to justify how they view love. The Sovereigns would promote love as a whole, with individual prayers directed at any one of the gods depending. After all a "love of the forge" would be appropriate for Onatar, love of married partner would be directed at Arawai. Love of combat would be directed at the Mockery (come on, admit it, you make the ocassional prayer to the Dark Six, just to stave off their attention :P ). Flavour it up and you have a perfectly workable system.

I might have to write up a bit of history about it and make a channel divinity feat for it if any of my players dig it. It'd also be funny to have the sect run a brothel/matchmaking service in Stormreach.
