| #1ultimateepicOct 05, 2010 21:48:31 | Hi everyone. I'll preface the post once again: I'm pretty new to D&D, and a very new DM. I've scoured the DMG's, and the Eberron Campaign Guide, but I'm still having trouble finding information about distances. I've seen the maps and such, but there isn't a key for distance. How close are these places to each other? My players have asked me how long does it take to get from A to B, and i'm not sure whether to tell them hours or days. Can anyone point me in the right direction? For example, how long would it take to get from Sharn to Fairhaven by Lightning Rail? By Caravan? By Foot? Any help is appreciated. Thank you. |

It has encounter-level speeds, as well as miles per hour and miles per day for a large number of Eberron vehicles/transportation modes. On p. 42, you'll find the same information for the various Eberron mounts. Hope that helps. |

The most correct answer when it comes to playing with time and distance in Eberron is "as long as it needs to." My first question when it comes to travel in Eberron (which is a much-discussed topic, by the way. search around a bit) is usually: does something interesting happen on the trip? If yes, I probably have an encounter to plan. If not, Indiana Jones-style red line travel montage and move on with the game. There's no good reason, I've found, to be specific in the details. They PCs travel long enough to get there, and then the game continues. No muss, no fuss, no niggling over the details. Saves time, saves effort, saves headache. |
