| #2rauricApr 21, 2008 7:27:27 | I think only adventurers may be able to do this trick. At least that is how I look at it. If that is so my pcs never went to a Jorasco House for straight healing anyway. |

Maybe they could deal with the REAL problems of Sharn (and the rest of Khorvaire): Heal the poor, sick, and homeless of diseases. (And do it for a price that people could afford – hospitals have sliding scales in some parts of the world.) Help all those disabled veterans. (My 10th level NPC clerics were inspired by the party to research a new spell to get something decent to deal with this problem.) Regeneration is a combat type spell, but there is no out of combat limb restoration spells. Find these people some jobs. (Part of rehabilitation.) Bless the mother’s new babies and do civil marriage ceremonies. (Most of them do worship Olladra who is part of the Sovereign Host.) Heal the rest of the population from diseases. (It is silly to think that just because nobody wants to shell out money for Remove Disease because it costs way too much, that the cleric are not going to cast the spells on somebody. After all, their daily spells come every day. Cash is cash and nobody wants to go into debt for the rest of their life just to visit the hospital.) This of course gets into the PCs ecomony vs. the NPCs ecomony which sometimes conflicts with each other. |

That still leaves plenty of room for House Jorasco to be the master healers of the world. (Indeed, it makes a bit more sense -- in real life, most of the healing process is something the body carries out on its own and medicine only exists to speed along and smooth that process, whereas in old D&D it seemed like "HP" was a precious natural resource on which the Clerics of the world had a monopoly and doled out to the people they wanted to sell it to, like oil or uranium or coltan.) |
