| #1k_factorApr 09, 2012 10:02:16 | Jello guys, i'm running Whispers of the vampire blade module to my players...this is the only "premade" adventure i will run in my campaign with them... essentialy, for everyone that never played this quest, a vampire spy had to collect a powerful item for his vampire mistress...but when he have been able to do it, the item took control of his mind..the vampire so was fleeing from Sharn with it... all the others organizations of khorvaine are after him to catch him and gain all the aknowledge collected in last years by this spy, and also the artifact he have... Essentially the characters have been hired from one of this organization (the dark lanterns) to catch him and the artifact stolen... In their journey they fighted with the emerald claw, and many others spies of other groups..but in the end will corner the vampire in a place near sterngate ... ok till here i have all clear.. now the character will have to return to sharn to their boss with the item, and if the will have taken alive the vampire with him to gain is aknowledge... obviousely they will be pursued especially by the emerald claw but i was also thinking that the vampire mistress now could do something to capture back his minion... The problem is that my group love quest without too much combat...they love more roleplaying and solve situations with their brain than with muscles....so i dont want to make the travel back all filled of fight with the other groups... can you give me some hint on how to handle this? i want to create a situation where my group will came back with few fight, and something original that will oblige them to use their brain... the travel is very long, and on the outward voyage they already used horses, trains and airships so i dont want to use the last 2 yet.... can you help me to invent something good to bring them back? Thaaanks (excuse me for my poor english) |

Find a way to take them from Sterngate into Zilargo, so they can charter a ship (normal, on-the-water kind) from Trolanport to Sharn. Perhaps once on the ship, they find it attacked by either pirates or the Emerald Claw again. The ship is damaged and sinks while they are passing through the Straits of Shargon, leaving the players and the remaining crew on an island in Shargon's Teeth. With no other ships in sight, they are forced to either try to make their way across the straits in their own lifeboats or island hop through Shargon's Teeth to get to Xen'drik where they can make their way to Stormreach. You've got plenty of opportunity for roleplaying in Zilargo (encounters with The Trust and the propoganda machine), on the ship (maybe the ship you've chartered are the real pirates and the players discover this), and once in Xen'drik you can explore the strange and fascinating. I realize a big problem with this is that it ends up taking the players far out of their way. Perhaps getting to Trolanport and chartering the ship is enough roleplay and they don't need to get stuck in Xen'drik. Or they do and then find that Orien member :P Just a quick idea there! |
| #5k_factorApr 11, 2012 8:37:13 | mhhh...i'll try to give you more info so that maybe we can find something cool... In the quest of Whispers of the Vampire Blade, the character are pursuing a vampire, Lucan, from Sharn to Trolanport by a Masked Ball...from here they will encounter a powerful ambassador spy woman linked to the vampire...from Trolanport the Vampire will run on an airship that goes in direction of Karnath... That airship will be destroyed by another one of the emerald claw (the group will finish anyway on the vampire's airship no matter what, before the emerald claw attack.. the airship will crush and the vapire will run away to the nearest village going on a train that goes north..the character will follow.....the train will be attacked by emerald claw and warforged mercenaries and it will stop in the middle of nowhere...the vampire will run away to hide himself and the group by following will catch him in a near temple abandoned..eventually depending on the fight they can kill the vampire or only capture him...now they have to return to sharn.. Before that quest: Please note that the vampire, Lucan, was the best spy of dark lanterns that found a new spy organization in Sharn, leaded by a Vampire Mistress...the mistress killed him and turned in one of his minions..then she ordered him to steal and bring her the Soul Blade... Lucan collected that item magic item that with its powerful ego subdued Lucans mind convincing him to betray his Mistress and to run away in direction of Karnath to be free... Now one of the boss of dark lanterns want to capture him and recover the soul blade, but also the other spy organization know of his flee so they want him to have access to all the secrets he have gained in his job by last years.. So.. as old part of the plot we have the Vampire organization, the emerald claw, the dark lanterns, most of the other spy organizations of khorvaine, many dark lanterns links that were working for Lucan and that now they are still with him..... so...nearly everyone is after him eheheheh... they have to came back trusting no one, cause everyone can betray in any moment.....something like this... The ship idea can be good...but cause they fighted against emerald claw on ariships and trains..make a fight against them also on ships could not be liked too much by my players ...About Zilargo seems a good place to roleplay but i dont know it very much...also because on the campaign settings there is not much space of descriptions about it :S |
