#1 saramis Nov 24, 2008 16:55:56	I'm running a 4e campaign in Eberron. I chose KotS because it seemed like a nice introduction to a new system, and I didn't realize how much work was required to fix it. The game seems to be running well, and I want to expand on the Shadowfell/Aberration concept. My idea steals some from Lords of Madness sourcebook. A group of mindflayers fled into the shadowfell (also called Mabar) during an invasion from Xoriat (aka the Far Plane). Xoriat was thrown out of orbit and would very rarely come close enough to Eberron have physical effects on it (coterminous). The plan of the mindflayers is somehow change the orbit of Mabar to make it rotate perfectly with the sun, creating a eternal lunar eclipse and throwing the world into darkness. Furthermore, this would make Mabar permanently coterminous with Eberron. Xoriat would soon become coterminous with Mabar, allowing some form of travel between the two, and then travel to Eberron, allowing eventually full scale invasion. Obviously, this campaign is going to be a long lasting one. I have two questions. 1) Is this idea feasible and comprehensible (I have a tendancy to come up with convoluted plots)? 2) how can these kind of planar/planetary adjustments be done? I'm hoping for something more interesting than "It's a ritual that takes x years to complete, requring y ingredients."
#2 Amaril Dec 11, 2008 8:58:46	The planes do not exist on the same plane as the sun so that wouldn't work. There are theories, however, about the moons corresponding to the planes. Note that there are stories of a 13th moon that disappeared when the giants invoked the cataclysm that also pushed Dal Quor to a permanently remote position. Perhaps the mindflayers have a plan to manipulate the moon associated with Xoriat. Additionally, keep in mind that the daelkyr are the true masters of xoriat and the mindflayers are their agents.
#3 Gilo Dec 11, 2008 17:50:08	I'm thinking as an alternative to shifting the moons/planes around Eberron that the mindflayers under some daelkyr command can be using the Shadowfell (and specifically the Shadow plane) to transport Xoriat forces from other overrun planets in the prime material plane galaxy and shadow-walk/Eldritch-Machine them into Eberron.
