| #1skrapsanSep 19, 2013 22:58:52 | OK so I have a party consisting of five people in a sandbox campaign. And I need some ideas for stuff to throw at them eventually. 1st one is a Lyrandar Half elf bard. He's got a nemesis within the house. And they have come to blows before. They will do anything to hurt each other except killing. I figured that 2nd is a Khalashtar sorcerer with the dream bloodline (pathfinder). I figured I would make him the only dreaming Kalashtar and give him potential prophetic dreams. Just throw a bunch of wierd dreams at him and then create situations that were simmilar. 3rd Is a Human Monk from Cyre with memmory loss, I have thought about tieing her with the Mourning. In my game Cyre has turned into a Realm of Dread, you know the whole Ravenloft thing. Ideas connected to this would be good. 4th we have A gnome rouge from Zilargo. His family was scammed by a dwarf claiming to be Khundarak, so he does not trust the bank. And he had to steal to finish school. 5th player is a Human barbarian from Darguun. He's a bit old and used to fight in the war etc etc. But due to a complicated past settled in Darguun, and then he had to leave that country as well, due to some unfortunate happening. Now if any of you have any ideas for stuff to throw at theese players please do. Epsecially the final three. |

I would think that a dreaming kalashtar would pretty much guarantee quori/Dreaming Dark storylines throughout the campaign, since he touches Dal Quor so regularly. He could also be uniquely placed to find Taratai, and I wouldn't be able to resist working that in. It occurs to me that the Monk will likely be part of the same story, since it was the Dreaming Dark that planted the suggestions in the Vadalis researchers who created and programmed him/her as a sleeper agent.
The dwarf who scammed the Zil wasn't a dwarf, he was a changeling who still uses that persona from time to time. But he works for a dwarf who really is a member of House Kundarak, and also of the Aurum. The dwarf deliberately ruined the Zil's family because their business dealings would have led to the uncovering of some of the dwarf's illegal schemes. Maybe they had aquired the shipyard where the dwarf had paid off a shipwright to build compartments in elemental vessels for smuggling contraband, and the shipyard needed to change hands ot keep the dealings secret. Of course, you can guess which Lyrander scion is an officer, and later captain, of one of those vessels and also in the employ of the dwarf.
The barbarian is harder without knowing why he keeps becomeing so unwelcome, or what region of Khorvaire he hails from. Since he is older and has a past, any plots would likely come out of his history. Since he is older and more worldly, it would be interesting if he was the Obi-wan of the group, who was always able to dole out the history and other knowledge you usually expect from a stereotypical wizard. It would be easy to link him to the Aurum storyline (eg. dockworker in Darguun where the dwarf launders contraband), but I suspect he should have his own story as well. What that story is may well depend upon the player.
My $0.02.
