Cannith's main centre of operation was in Cyre, which means it was likely dedicated to innovation and the arts, operating with a certain culture. Next to Cyre, which is now lost, it is Aundair which comes closest to these ideals - in its cities, at least, where education is held high. Merrix is a great artificer and a capable administrator, but he seems to me to be too much of a fanatic. He comes close to his ancestor and the original creator of the warforged, Aaren d'Cannith (IIRC), who was (also IIRC) excoriated for being a bit too friendly with his creations as far as the House was concerned. Merrix is a genius and possibly the best inventor of the House, but his faction is a bit too eccentric in places; they exaggerate the ideals of Cannith beyond what it was. This also gives him one of the strongest faction, as he has a vision which the others seem to lack. As for Cannith East, their ties to the undead do not strike me as mainstream Cannith. They are influenced by a culture far away from the Cannith Homeland, and do not deal with it - they do not have the ideals of Cyre, or its closest neighbours in outlook, Aundair and Breland. Note, of course, that this is purely a matter of opinion. |
