The closest I can find it something like "thus, you can get from X Neighbourhood in Tavick's to Y Neighbourhood in Dura for 6 silvers". Which might help, if I knew how to factor in the vertical axis as well for Soarsled Fares. Any help? Thanks Gondolier |

However, based on information collected in a long-dead thread (it MIGHT still be in the archive), we reckoned Sharn to be about 3 miles long by 1.5 miles wide, and about a mile tall including Skyway and the cliffs. As an aside, if that statistic is true, then Sharn is a ghost town with only the listed 250,000 residents, unless it's like Venice in that there are more tourists than permanent inhabitants. Even then, a conservative estimate of 750,000, including residents, tourists and people otherwise not on the census rolls, you could still walk for blocks in Sharn and not see another living person. I simply describe Sharn as being a crowded, bustling metropolis without regard to how many people that means, but I find that increasing Eberron's unrealistically low populations by about a factor of ten gives a more comfortable population density to most of the cities. Sharn being a city of 2.5 million feels better for its estimated size than a Sharn of only a quarter-million. |

After all there was a huge war that just ended and perhaps only in the last little while has the population began to renew. So, while the upper levels/merchant areas are full of life, the lower you get the emptier it is. To the point that other 'things' have moved in. This lets a group of adventurers do there daring do in the depths of Sharn. |

Anyway, you're right: the walls are really thick at the bottom, even if the streets are narrow, while towards the top there is a lot more open space. Both facts make a good amount of the area uninhabitable. I think it's best to think of it as someplace with ridiculously wide roads at the top and narrow hallways blending with narrow streets at the bottom. |
