| #1JohnLynchApr 03, 2009 1:53:43 | So I've been less then enthused by WotC's mods. I've run Keep on the Shadowfell and played Sceptre Tower of Spellguard. SToS was nothing but a dungeon-crawl. Absolutely no story whatsoever. While KotS didn't suffer from this, both mods suffered from one major problem. They use the same type of monster too dang often. For KotS it was kobolds and goblins. For SToS it was Wererats and another type of monster for the last two thirds (I forget now). I was coming on here to ask Keith to allay my fears about Seekers of the Ashen Crown. To tell me that there would be actual monster variation and that it would also have a good story. But instead I find that it isn't Keith writing it ![]() So is anyone going to bother with the Eberron mod? If so, why? Am I wrong? |

| #4HellcowApr 03, 2009 16:25:09 | I couldn't write it because I was working on a novel and the Eberron Campaign Guide. For what it's worth, I did write Khyber's Harvest, the Eberron module that will be handed out on Free RPG Day in June. |

There had been local rumors you would merely be "consulted". But, I'm glad that's not the case. Now I have little fear that Eberron will be anything less than as great as it always has been. Kudos. On the topic of mods though...a better story might be nice for some of them, but I don't mind getting to add my own spices to that particular style of dish. The lack of monster variation within a given module though kind of makes sense. After all, most stories have a theme. They probably could've mixed it up a little more though, so I do agree on that. |
