How many people in a dragonmarked house?

Nov 01, 2011 23:57:16 I was wondering if there was any material covering exactly how big each house is (blood members capable of developing a dragonmark)? There was a reference perhaps in the 3e supplement Dragonmarked which stated some origin info about the houses, such as for example, 'that the mark of making orginated 2,000 years in the past, appearing in several families in the area which would become Cyre'. From that I kind of put the ratio of dragonmarked family to non-dragonmarked family anywhere from 1:5000 to 1:10000.

According to Dragonmarked it really depends on the house, for instance House Valadis and Medani are small while Cannith and Deneith is pretty sizable. In turn the breakdown of family memebers to non family members is also similar Deneith is going to have a lot of non family members to family members simply because it needs a large amount of soliders. Actual numbers are nonexistent though and you can set them up how you need them.

Dec 01, 2011 5:45:08 Another aspect that will further muddy the waters is the fact that while the core of the house will always be Dragonmarked, there are more unmarked people than marked people, and in some houses, there are more people from outside the house than there are even unmarked people.

The numbers are 1 in a hundred have a connection to a house, and of those 1 in 2 are "Marked". These numbers are from the original (3.5) campaign setting under the Dragonmarked Heir class.

While the exact qoute is "Perhaps as many as one person in a hunderd has a blood connection to one of the twelve houses. Of these thousands, however, no more than half actually manifest a dragonmark." Which is to say not a very solid number either way, basically it is leaving it up to the DM to decide.
