My question is, about how many valenar elves does each warband contain? Dozens? Hundreds? A rough guess would be great. Thanks for any and all replies!

I expect that would be dependent on the type of warband, and what they were trying to accomplish. An espionage band would consist no more than ten, but a warband intended to take out a fortified city could consist of thousands after thousands.

Pretty much everyone they could lay hands on with enough strength to pick up a sword.

For a group committed to a Field battle, out in the open, I would think on the order of hundreds. For a small battle, maybe a hundredcount or two, and for a major battle five to seven hundred. Most combats from the Dark Ages here weren't more than that, no matter how powerful the King was. Just not enough population.

I would create units of ten, fifty, and one hundred. Fifty archers or Cavalry for a hundred foot, and ten for special operations. Although a five-man team(aka a party of unwitting dup... I mean eager adventurers) can sometimes be just as effective.

Not sure how much that helps...

As far as Lore-friendly numbers, I'll have to do some research, and see if they mention it.

Warbands, not a complete army, right? Even less than a dozen are sometimes enough. According to this Dragonshard, a band of 8 to 12 elves is a significant threat. The typical bands described in Forge of War are composed by about that number of elves.

Valenar don't have the numbers for "thousands upon thousands". Besides, classic sieges are definitely not their style.

In my own defense, the OP wasn't horribly clear on his definition of a warband.

I stand corrected. Sorry, have had large-scale military encounters on the brain today.

I thought that was the case. You probably described standard Khorvairina warfare(especially Karrnath and Thrane)-they're far more akin to actual medieval armies.

I'll keep that in mind, if the situation ever comes up.

Who am I kidding... This is Eberron, after all ;)

The answer, unless there is more elsewhere, is on page 210 of the 3.5 ECS.  It says a Warband is a group of 8 to 12 individuals.  Multiple Warband make up a Warclan which numbers between 2 and 5 hundred individuals.  Valenar is the base of operations for all 45 Warclans.

Thank you very much! This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks to everyone else for their replies.
