The faithful truly believe that the power is divine in origin, and strictly speaking there is no way to disprove that. Skeptical types might point to the fact that the supposedly "divine" power wielded by these characters is very similar to the arcane and psionic powers of other disciplines, and theorize that the power comes from an intense inner concordance with the hidden energies of the world. In other words, those people are so faithful in the power of their religion that they unconsciously change the world around themselves to match their faith by sheer willpower. Still other scholars might propose that, when a belief system reaches a critical mass of faithful followers, the faith of those followers itself can be a potent force which certain people can tap into and use. And there are dozens of other explanations. Remember, you shouldn't need a decisive answer for where divine power comes from. That is the point, after all: people can't prove that the gods DO exist, but conversely can't prove that they DON'T either. |
| #3guendolinOct 08, 2010 5:48:40 | I'm sitting in the same problem with one of my players. He wanted to play a invoker and i said Ok before I realized that the discription of invokers in PH2 don't clash good with the view at deities in the Eberron Campain Setting. And the player don't know anything about Eberron. I will go with his choise of class cause it's whant he wants to play. Thank you ZeroPoint for that good explanasion to the power of invokers. |
