#1 cyclone231 Nov 15, 2009 15:38:59	I was never quite clear on the gist of Eberron social structure, and this is one of the big ones: is there a proletariat, or is the Eberron economy still built on artisans and peasantry? I mean, what do the poor people in Sharn do for a living? Are there factories, or do they just rob people and sell low-quality goods?
#2 ellorin Nov 15, 2009 15:55:06	Khorvairian civilisation is not in an Industrial era yet. It's still nostly individual artisans. It might happen in a couple of decades(or not), but not yet. It's an interesting concept anyway and certwainly has potential. Khorvaire has changed a lot from the pre-war Galifar and the war didnbring the first traces of mass production(House cannith's weapon production especially under Calenzo D'Cannith) so the proletariat might be born soon. The presence of the magewrights should also be mentioned. On the other continents the answer is a definite no. Riedra is an intentionally pastoral society, Aerenal prides itself on retaining the ancient ways and as for Argonessen and Xen'drik...enough said.

#7 Madfox11 Nov 17, 2009 4:45:42	Don't forget the workers in the harbor, entertainment and lightningrail station. Sharn is a major transport hub. I also suspect quite a few of the lower class citizens are active in the building industry - maintainance mostly. The rich would not want their towers to collapse under them (although on occassion one apparently does collapse)
#8 el_shawno Nov 22, 2009 12:30:10	Well, as adventure hooks go, you have enough poor in Sharn to base an adventure around a populist leader emerging from the Cogs. He or she could be on the up and up and wind being threatened by agents of 'entrenched interests' who don't want to see an change to the status quo. Or it could be that this new leader is a demagogue looking to build his/her own power base.  Or it could be that this new leader is an agent for a crminal organization/secret society/Dragonmarked house. And so forth and so on.
