When it comes to plots and adventure hooks which of the dragonmarked houses would be your first choice? Let's assume that there are no player ties with any of them. Personally I really like the broadness, ambition and aggressiveness of House Tharashk. But what about you?

House Cannith, even though it's used so much, has tons of potential for "find me the magic McGuffin" missions, in-house and inter-house conflict, insane villains and political influence.

Tough call, but I'm a fan of the blind sided plot twist so I've used Ghalanda and Vadalis as bad guys. Because no one suspects them.

Pft.

You know who no-one, and I mean no-one, ever suspects?

Show
House Khowabunga! The Drow clan of the Mark of Surfing!

Surging up from the seas on water elemental surfboards, launching their hypnotic frisbees and explosive alchemical volleyballs through the windows of Sharn and decimating House Lyrandar traffic one mondo wave at a time! No beach barbecue is safe! No sun bathers will be spared! Even unbreathing warforged will be blinded by their wild Xen'drik shirts and crazy board designs!

If your players see that one coming, you've got an epic level Psion in your gaming group.

I don't know about a twist, but I was certainly blind sided by that one Red.

They should have heeded the ancient texts of the Draconic Prophecy: "If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it... But trust me on the sunscreen"

There's also an ancient piece of advice for those of House Phiarlan: "Don't mess too much with your hair, or by the time you are forty it will look eighty-five"

I"m going to second on Vadalis. Crazy-bred beasties*Cough* template-ridden *cough* make great encounters.

Lo and behold I've got a wonderful three House team-up of Vadalis, Cannith and Jorasco in my game right now. Don't want to spill the beans since I know some of my players cruise these boards. But nobody expects the House of Healing and the breeders to be involved in nasty conspiracies, which makes for the best conspiracies.
