I had the "The Phantom of the Opera" song running in my head when I run it.

Van Helsing soundtrack. I use it as part of my Eberron mix. High action music from Alan Silvestri who also did the Mummy Returns, another great pulp action film.

Blech. I actually dislike MS; it sounds like repetitive MIDI music to me.

Corvus Corax - Cantus Buranus I and II. Their other material may fit as well.

Wagner and Grieg. At high volume. If you can hear your players, much less the clatter of the dice, you've got it too low.

Seems fitting for Karrnath doesn't it?

Find yourself some Janissary music-- one of the oldest military band traditions in the world! Heavy on the drums, shrill trumpets-- just the sort of thing to make you want to mount a cavalry charge.

This. Also consider some Roma and Romanian music. Any Castlevania OST should also apply.

Also, if you look around the internet you can find the background music for "Age of Conan" & while the game itself is pretty ordinary, the music can fit in fine (as long as its not over used).
