| #1redskullDec 07, 2010 5:04:31 | I seem to remember there being a nice of King Kaius liveing in Breland as some sort of security mesure against Karrnath brakeing the Treaty of Thronehold? I need her name so i can have her kidnapped but cant seem to find it anywhere... Its a big and complicated plot where The Aurum and The Swords of Liberty play a role but also Knights Acrane and The Boromor Clan of Halflings... So if anyone can tell me her name and where i can find the information in the ECG that would be awesome... |

Additionally, on page 179 of the ECS (the 3.5 campaign setting), there is a brief section about how Gaius is in Thrane, and Haydith, Breland, and how Kaius would rather keep his siblings close to oversee their training, but he has to look towards improving relations with other nations. The thing is that you're missing a level of complexity. Yes, several of the Five Nations exchanged members of the royal family to ensure that the peace is kept, but why else would Kaius I *cough* I mean Kaius III send Haydith off to Breland? Oh! Oh! You can involve the Emerald Claw too! I mean, who DOESN'T like Nazis with zombies? The play could be that they're trying to overthrow Kaius III and set Haydith up as a figurehead while they rule, or something to that effect. edit: Also, Haydith and Gaius are siblings to Kaius III, and thus grandchildren to Kaius I. |

The Aurums main agent in the campain is Bren ir'Gadden (from Mark of Prophecy) who is a turn coat Dark Lantern and the party´s main benefactor. The player´s have already witnessed him bringing together terrorists from The Swords of Liberty with halflings from The Boromor Clan but have no idea why he did that. For the session tonight the player´s will be sent with a chest full of Anurian gold crowns to the halflings and a very styleish exotic hat to be delivered to the Princesses temporary accomidations in Sharn. Later that night they will be asked to "remove" a Karrnathi Knight that Bren say´s is a old rival from the war that is in town to kill him. In truth this is the Princesses private body guard that needs to be removed before the next step in Brens plan can be enacted. I am planing him as a Solo threat for the party to fight, a dead hard Karrnathi heavy knight... The plot will all come together at a Royal Ball to honor the 4th aniversary of the Treaty of Thronehold, The Swords of Liberty want to use the occasion to strike a blow to the monarchy by stageing a Dirty Dozen like attack on the gathered royalty (Bornel, Haydith and the Prince of New Cyre) and will be smuggled into the kitchen by Boromar agents in the House Ghallandra staff. The kidnapping uses the attack as a cover and will be carried out by three corrupt Knights Arcane that accompany the Anurian ambassador. This has been arrange to cast the blame toward Anuir if anything goes wrong. An Aurum Changeling has infiltrated the household of Haydith and is poised to take her place for a while to give the Knights Arcane longer to escape with the princess that will be useing her new Hat of Disguise to get past security.. The players will be invited to the ball by a university professor that has the ear of the king as the players have recently discovered a ancient Dorsharn vault under the city that kept several Beholders in stasis and preformed admirably in resolveing the threat to the city... All in all its complicated but i think it might be a fun plot filled couple of sessions... |

The play could be that they're trying to overthrow Kaius III and set Haydith up as a figurehead while they rule, or something to that effect. Funny, I did the exact opposite and had Haydith the one leading the charge against the OEC and the BoV regime. The ECS (or was it 5N?) mentioned her becoming quite the darling of the Brelish high-society crowd, and the text implies that Boranel likes and trusts her more than he trusts any of his actual heirs to take over when he steps down (which is going to be soon, given his age). So I turned her into a political firebrand who Boranel's adventurer tendencies were rubbing off on and ran with it. Much fun. edit: Also, Haydith and Gaius are siblings to Kaius III, and thus grandchildren to Kaius I. I thought she was a niece? Meh, it's been a while since I cracked open the ECS. |

I was thinking about using this situation as a plot by the Blood of Vol to expose Kaius I and take back the throne that he refused to turn over to Vol. Kaius I then gets to deal with his grandchildren who want to get revenge on him for his actions and who have the backing of the Blood of Vol and the Emerald Claws. |
