Hey everyone!

Over the course of 2009, I'm going to be traveling around the world. I'm looking to see interesting places, meet interesting people, and play games with them. So if you're interested in playing Eberron with one of its creators, check out the sblock!

Show
One of my primary goals here is to meet interesting gamers across the world. If you're an ideal subject, then I'd like to have some time to get to know you and your home. As such, what I'd like is hospitality (be it couch or floor space) for three nights. One of those nights, I will entertain you and your friends - running Eberron or OTE, playing Gloom, whatever you want. Another night, I'd like YOU to entertain ME. What is it that you feel I should see in your home? Not necessarily the biggest tourist attraction - but the thing YOU thing is most interesting. Is there a game YOU want me to play that I'm not going to find anywhere else? Something that inspired you as a gamer? Or just the Biggest Ball of Twine in Oslo? The third day, I'll rest, write, and mind my own business... look at things that have caught MY eye. In the meantime, I'm always willing to talk about gaming, writing, Eberron, or what have you. Needless to say, you're welcome to spread these three days out over your gaming group; I'm happy to spend a night on three different sofas, as long as my goal is met.

Of course, I'm simply not going to have time to spend three days with every interesting person (and I'm sure there will be many people who just don't fit on my travel map). So I'll also be looking for flyby visits - crashing just one night while I'm en route, either running a game for you or just hanging out and talking.

And hey, as option number three, if you've got a convention going on and you're looking for a guess, well, most conventions are three days... I'd certainly be happy to run games and meet people.

So...

1. If you're interested, drop me an email at onesmallkeith@gmail.com . Odds are good I'll be doing some mass mailings as I get my plans together, and it's easier for me to contact people through email than to deal with private messages or screennames.

2. I plan to be writing about this experience, whether blogging or something else. Are you (and your gaming group) OK with being mentioned in my story? I can certainly change names to protect the guilty, but if you want to be off the radar entirely, let me know.

3. As mentioned above, I'm planning two sorts of stops: the one-night layover, and the three-night get-to-know-you-and-your-town visit (mind you, it could be three nights on three different sofas, if your gaming group wants to take turns hosting). Which can you support?

4. Tell me something about yourself. What do you do? When did you get into gaming? What are some of your favorite activities? What's the most unusual thing about you (that you're willing to share with a stranger)? The trick here is that while I want to see as many places and people as possible, in a case where I've got multiple invitations in a single region, I'm going to have to make a choice; I don't want to spend a full month just bouncing around one city. As noted in question 2, I'm planning to write about this in some form... and I'm curious as to what sort of character you'll make in my cast. I'm sure that all of you are fascinating people, because in my experience, everyone is fascinating in their own way. But hey, if there's something ESPECIALLY unusual about you, let me know!

And now to think up a great aplication... or just go the "boring" route and be honest about it. Hmm that might actually be crazy enough to work.

To quote some random player: Since when is Gruumsh a wandering monster?

And Keith, I cannot begin to tell you how cool this project is.

Well, it's only a competition if there's a whole lot of people in your area interested in playing host (there are a few stops on my path where this is indeed the case). And folks on the boards have an edge because I already know you a little through your posts, and I'd certainly like to attach faces and lives to the people I've been interacting with for the last five years. There's still a lot of blank spaces on the map of places I'd like to visit, so I'm certainly interested in hearing from more people! And thanks to everyone who has already offered their hospitality - I look forward to meeting you in months to come.

Wow, I'd offer you a bed in Cambridge, England in a shot if my living situation wasn't so uncertain right now

Will you be posting a schedule of your visits? At least that way I might be able to jump on board a game/convention nearby :D

I certainly plan to be blogging about it, so you'll have some warning. We'll see how it plays out!

I'll see what I can do Hellcow. :D

I'd offer a place to stay, but I don't have floor space in my little studio...On the Other hand I think I could get a friend to give kamaaina rates for a Hotel in Waikiki, and I'd be more than willing to assist with that. Money Wise...Y'know what I mean.

You can find the list of places I'm HOPING to visit here. I'm keeping it updated as new invitations come in. I actually already have three invitations from Italy - Turin, Udine, and Savona - so I'm PROBABLY booked up there, but you never know. I'm actually thinking that I'm just going to have to make a return trip to Europe (probably in 2010, sadly) in the hopes of meeting some of the people I miss the first time around, as I really want to get to as many different coutnries as possible on that first trip. But if you'd like to email me, I can at least get you on my list and eep you posted.

My main thing is that I'll be stretching my budget covering travel, so I need to keep my costs down on lodging. But hey, I'd love to spend some time in Waikiki, and if we can find something reasonable, I'm certtainly all ears. Send me an email!

No invitations TO Venezuala. The places listed on my blog aren't yet confirmed as places I WILL be going; they are the places where people have offered me hospitality, and where I'd LIKE to go. Personally, I'd like to go to as many countries as I can. So if you can offer me three nights of hospitality in Venezuala in exchange for gaming and conversation, I'll certainly try to find a way to get there!

:D Excelent.
Ok, next week I'll confirm you if I can offer you those three nights but it's almost certain I can. I'm looking forward to it.

EDIT: Ok, nevermind. It's confirmed, I can give you a house :D. If you find a way here, you will get a house. Of course, you would have to tell me in advance when you're comming.

Hellcow, I see North Carolina is on your list. While I'm afraid I can't offer a room(i live with my parents) and I couldn't entertain you very well(i'm in college), if you would be DMimg a game at a store in the Triangle I would be delighted to attend.

on a related note, the North of Italy is VERY (very very) different from the South. So, if you go to Italy, I suggest you visit at least one city from the North (Milan) and one from the South (prolly Rome or Naples).

I noticed on your list you're missing Belgium, if you're really planning to come to Europe, I will send you an invitation via e-mail to beatiful Antwerp, city of Diamonds and French (well, Belgian) Fries!

Always nice to know if I have to bring forth my trusty axe and start a blood feud sometime soon... oh wait 1000 years to late for that, darn!

Well when my friends heard you were coming they all wanted to play, so if you are taking the trip i think i need to know the maximum number of people who can participate :P I know mine is 5, but you might have other limits. Being part demon, part cow, part human. How is that working out for you btw?

Five is likewise my preference for a game, though I don't mind if others come and hang out.

Any updates on this?

I've been delayed by preexisting work deadlines - including the Free RPG Day Eberron adventure and the next Thorn novel. I'll be hitting the road as soon as I'm finished with my work - hopefully the begining of April. If you've sent me an offer of hospitality, I'll be in touch soon.

I'm finally on the road - I've been through Salt Lake City, Boise, Portland, and currently I'm in Seattle. I'll have a proper blog with pictures up soon, but as it turns out, it's been a busy month.

If you're in Seattle, I'm going to be at Blue Highway Games tomorrow (Sunday May 10th) from 12:30 until around 3:00 PM. Depending how many people show up, I'd love to talk about Eberron, play a hand of Gloom, or perhaps even demo something new. Drop by if you can!

I'll be passing back through Portland, Oregon on Tuesday, May 12th, and I'll be hanging out at Guardian Games from 12-4 PM, so if I didn't meet you the first time, here's another chance.

Looking to the convention schedule:

KublaCon
May 22-25
Burlingame, CA
KublaCon - The Khan of Cons!

A-Kon
May 29-31
Dallas, TX

You have more than enough places to stay on my end of Finland. Last time I heard, some 20 people were fighting over who gets to be a host.

Wait, this situation feels familiar...

I've been trying to get in contact with Nick, but no dice...plus I think he's busy in London teaching Beijing Opera to the locals...lucky him and London. I'd say you should try to look him up if you can while you're in london and if you're into facebook, log into the "Nick Logue Changed my life" group.

But, if you want to visit Hawaii, let me know. I'd be more than willing to put you up in a Hotel in Waikiki for your stay. And if they're running them if you come, can I interest you in a Hawaii Ghost Tour?

I'm glad to see Israel is already on the list

D&D is the most popular RPG in Israel, and is the only one currently being transluted to Hebrew (The Hebrew 4th edition DMG has just arrived). Most of us play homebrew campaign settings, but there are a few Eberron fans here.

I hope you will be able to visit us Israeli D&D players.
