Hi all,

Sorry for starting 2 threads at once (hog!) but here is a little image I knocked up to help you get a picture of Khorvaire's climate:

http://www.geocities.com/latreyasena/

It's accurate to the ECS but I did use a bit of artistic license in two places:

The grasslands in Droaam/Shadow Marches. I did this because Gazhaak Draal is meant to be quite barren and stony, and it "probably" would be there (plains/dry grasslands) going by the rest of Khorvaire's climate/geography.

And the Mediterranean area. It is "possible" that a Mediterranean climate could occur here, even tough it is not mentioned in the ECS, and I think it is nice that Khorvaire should have such a climate. Plop your Mediterranean mythologies here; could Korth be the next Rome ?!?

Any feedback?

Nice map. I've always found it a shame that so little is said about the climate of Eberron, apart from mentioning basic geographic features such as jungles and deserts.

I am not sure where I read this, and my books are currently in storage, but I believe the Scion's Sound suffers from cold winds. On the other hand, so do parts of the actual Mediterranean region, with the Mistral in Southern France. Although if it comes from the Frostfell, the Scion's Sound winds are likely worse.

I'm not an expert on climate, though. Could the area around Lake Galifar have Mediterranean climate? Or the Cyran side of Lake Cyre, before the Mourning - Metrol sounds to me quite Mediterranean in nature. Of course, Khorvaire would have lost its main spas and holiday resorts that way.

Again, I'm not a climate expert, so others may have more to say. One final thing to consider, however, is that with Lyrandar's weather-mages, it could be possible to have a Mediterranean climate in the middle of colder regions (Stormhome, perhaps?)

Hey thanks for the reply,

I'm no climatologist either. Yes, I may be stretching the truth a little about the Mediterranean area. The sun rises in the east in Eberron as it does in our world and the axis tilt of Eberron seems pretty similar to ours too, this means Ebrrons climate is similar to ours.

In our world Mediterranean areas only occur in coastal areas - and on west coasts only. They also only occur in coastal areas between hot deserts and temperate zones. So I think your lake ideas are out. I too may be stretching it having it in the midlands but hey, whatever, we need Mediterranean.

Yes Scions Sound may suffer from cold winds but imagine this area like the English channel (cold) running down to the coast of Portugal (Mediterranean).

Hey, you can make Metrol and the area around Lake Cyre Mediterranean if it floats your boat.

Cheers.
