Hi guys! As you probabely understood, i would like to create a player character that could fit the role of the Knight Phantom of Aundair, from Five Nation book of 3.5 ed. A knight phantom was a arcane prestige class with a melee training who used "phantom steed" to reach every point of the battlefield and then fight with both spells and weapons. To be honest i don't think that it is possible to recreate this prestige class in 4 ed, but i would like any suggestion! As there is not (yet) any Knight Phantom paragon class, my idea is a 10 level fighter multiclass wizard or wizard multiclass fighter. But this is all i have in mind... Please help me!

Knight phantom prestige class can be found here: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20050706a&page=4

P.S. Sorry, i am Italian so my English may not be perfect!

You can use the Swordmage class. (with a Steed Summons ritual for the mount).

The easiest thing to do in the heroic tier is probably to start with a swordmage (from the Forgotten Realms Players Handbook) and go up from there. Phantom steed is now a 6th level ritual, so the swordmage would want to pick up the Ritual Caster feat at some point. For flavor, you could go with the assault swordmage build, as that allows the character frequent short teleports-- this teleportation could be attributed to brief appearances by a phantom steed of sorts.

A Knight Phantom paragon path would be the place to bring back the Aspect, Countenance, and Blade of the Phantom abilities. Maybe an encounter attack with shifting, an insubstantial/phasing utility power, and a daily attack that targets a non-AC defense?

EDIT: Oh! And for the paragon path, the ability to perform the phantom steed ritual at a reduced price/increased speed would be a nice perk.

Thanks guys! I thought about the swordmage class too but...do swordmages exist in Eberron and not just in Faerun? I know that it exists if I want it to exist, but i like to follow the rules exactly hehe!

Swordmage is a perfectly balanced class that can be used in any game. There are no guidlines for how to use the Swordmage in Eberron, but it's extremely easy to do so.

For instance, there's no line in an Eberron sourcebook that goes "The Towers of Arcanix train deadly soldiers who use a mix of swordplay and arcane skill. These individuals are called Swordmages, and many of them join the Knight Phantoms of Aundair."

But that certainly does make sense, doesn't it? Coupled with the fact the Swordmages don't require any specific rules from FR, they're balanced against any other class from any PHB and even the Artificer from the Eberron Player's Guide. Therefore there's no reason not to play one.

(Also, your english is impeccable.)

Sounds good to me, and I agree with Alas' thoughts about a paragon path.

The Denieth Warden Paragon path allows you to use Strength or Intelligence for it's defender-like abilities. This would imply to me the writers expected Swordmages to see use in Eberron.

Prior to being high enough level to cast Steed Summons, you could pick up a "Bridle of Conjuration" - level 4 magic item, daily power: summon a horse. (It's in the Adventurer's Vault, or the Compendium.) Explain to your DM that you'd like to get this as soon as possible to complete your character concept, and he/she can work it into the treasure parcels and you could potentially get it before you've hit 2nd level. :D

Granted, your character concept is much higher level, at which point Steed Summons is preferable for getting a tougher mount to your side. Still, I thought I'd point out the option in case you want a lower-level version of the character.
