Trying to find some more specific locations where kobolds factor into Khorvaire. I know there are some in Droamm, and I thoguht there were one or two clans of kobold assassins in Darguun (although they might have been goblins--I can't find any references anywhere). If I recall, they're also in the mountains around Zilargo (in order to keep the gnomes racial enmity from 3.5). Where else, though? The main thrust for this is looking for a background for a kobold PC.

Meh.

They seem too...not cowardly.

in my mind, Kobolds living in part of Zilargo would be treated much like Native Americans do now aways on reservations, a little bit resentful and a little bit self controlled but always under the eye of the national government and in this case The Trust.

knew a Kobold player who played his character fearing the Trust... aka every gnome outside of house sivis and spoke poorly of them when ever she felt "safe"...

If the Hellcow gives his point of view and it is published as a dragonshard, then it is canon.

Finally!! Kobolds get some respect in a campaign setting..

It feels good to finally be a part of the whole, doesn't it? To play a role the greater world that no other has the ability or opportunity to fulfill.

Now get back down that hole and bring me the head of that jungle rat or I'll be forced to send your head and the heads of your kin to the Llesh to sate his lust for vengeance temporarily.

Huukec dhech! Stop being racist against the gnomes. They have feelings too ... or so I have heard ... but then again, it could be Trust lies.

I have a kobold, and a goblin playing in my campaign. It is fun stuff. The rog kobold is being bred to be a dragonkiller by ... well other dragons and the goblin warlord (yeah 4E) is being groomed to be a dragonlord. The kobold is already somewhat legendary around Breland and the goblin who was a but of a pantywaist in 3.5 got "retrained" by some dragon spirits so he can go back into Dargunn and show them what for!

So after reading Graywall I almost regret sticking them in Stormreach. One of there party members (Valenar elf) was framed for the murder of the Mayor of New Cyre so they had to get out of the continent pretty fast. The group messed with Cult of Tiamat too many times. Anyway Grawall is a great article and a cool place to use your "misfit" pcs if you have any.

On a side note when it comes to dragonmarks and goblins. Dragonmarks usually are found on several core, native races that live in Khorvaire, why hasn't one popped up yet on the gobbos? They were the continents major superpower at one point right? So the orcs can get one and the gobbos cannot? I am liking Hellcow's idea that will show up in 4E about dragonmarks showing up on PCs that belong to a race that has never had one. Perhaps a new mark will pop up on an oldschool race. Hey, it can happen. The Dragonmarks did not just pop up on the races all at once right?

That article on the Kobolds has become pretty much canon in my campaign due to them being the current primary nemesis of the party. Truding around Whitehorn Wood's they've found an entire Kobold culture hidden away and looking to cause mischeif for the rest of the world.

That article has seen a lot of play in my games. Not only am I using the same creation myth for the Dragonborn (in Races and Classes James Wyatt mentioned something very similar to Keith's take on the Kobolds for the origins of the dragonborn, only with Io, Tiamat, and Bahamut... similar enough I ran with it) the irvhir have been a recurring pain the the side of my players.

Only I made the "ones below" a little more twisted than just Khyber blooded kobolds. In addition to just being their own true breeding subrace they would 'assimilate' other kobolds. Particularly a tribe of irvhir that were dedicated to the Scar that Abides in my games, they'd abduct iredar kobolds and torture them mind, body, and soul while ritualistically scaring them and 'infecting' them with fiendish blood.

The poor iredar kobolds would either die from the process, go completely insane... then die, or rarely their will would break and they'd become one of the irvhir.

The party stumbled upon this and managed to save one (Kafrun who became a recurring NPC) with his sanity intact. Ones who were less fortunate, who'd completely lost their minds... the party was going to 'put them out of their misery'... then one of them had the idea to release the insane ones on their captors... which again resulted in the insane one's deaths... but they got some measure of revenge and managed to take out some irvhir before they were cut down.

In my campaign there where two Kobolds tribes living near the foots of the Icetop mountains in Karrnath. The Irvhirs where living in a mountain cave and the Iredar in the nearby forest lair.

During the Last War a series of diseases that strike that area of Karrnath reduced the two tribes numbers. To survive they where forced to unite under the Iredar chieftain.

A few months before my PCs arrive to the area the spiritual leaders of the Irvhir -clerics of the Dragon Below overthrow the old Iredar chieftain and put a Dolgrim as the new leader of the unified tribe.

As part of the main adventure plot (which I'm not going in detail to avoid spoilers) the Dolgrim orders a Kobold war party to ambush any travelers arriving on the King's road.

The PC encounter and kills the war party on the road, before the PC had time to move on - another group of Kobolds emerge from the forest. this Kobold group carries supplies to the war party and tries to escape as they encounter the PCs. This group of Kobolds is lead by a respected Iredar Kobold (a Rat Master) which is not happy with the shift of power in the tribe (He wanted to be the next chief). He initially fights the PCs letting some of the other Kobolds escape - then he himself runs to the forest.

The PCs tracked him and encountered him once more later that day, they strike a deal in which he will lead them to the lair (pass the traps) and help them kill the Dolgrim and the clerics of the Dragon Below (mostly by getting the rest of the Iredar out of there way) and he as the new leader will assure that the Kobolds attacks in the area will stop.
