We only have one Eberron specific ED at the moment after all, so it'd be good to see some diversity! Here's my take on an Aereni ED: Undying Courtier Your deeds will be spoken of for millennia in Elven legend – your place in the Undying Court is assured. Prerequisites: 21st level, elf The Priests of Transition keep a close eye on the exploits of Aereni, and the power is theirs to choose who will live for eternity with a seat in the Court. Even in life their attention has been drawn to you, and they prepare for the day you will join the ranks of the ascendant councillors. Immortality Yours is the path to true immortality, an everlasting existence rather than a web of tales. The give of deathlessness is yours to take when you die. Taking a Seat: When you complete your final quest, you take your place among the deathless. The power that has been keeping you alive to see your final task through relaxes, and you succumb to death. The Priests of Transition perform their sacred rite, and you join the Undying Court as one of its most powerful members, forever to watch over Aerenal and protect their elves that call it their home. Undying Courtier Features All Undying Courtiers have the following class features: Ancestral Lore (21st level): With a simple prayer you can petition the Undying Court for their knowledge. Once per day before rolling an Arcana, Dungeoneering, History, Nature or Religion check, you can choose to treat the die roll as a natural 20. Deathless Return (24th level): Once per day, when you die, you can return to the world sustained by the gestalt power of the Undying Court. In deathless form, you return to maximum hit points and gain the undead origin. Allies that start their turn adjacent to you regain hit points equal to their level. In deathless form you can use at-will and encounter powers, but not daily powers. If you die in deathless form, you’re dead. At the end of the encounter, after a short rest, your return to living form with 1 hit point. Font of Power (30th level): By channelling the Undying Court, you retain a measure of your own power. Once per day as a free action, you can regain the use of a daily power that you have used today. Deathless Bastion Undying Courtier Utility 26 You call the undying soldiers of the Court to battle. Daily * Conjuration, Divine Standard Action Ranged 10 Effect: You conjure eight undying soldiers, each occupying 1 square within range. As a move action, you can move each of the soldiers 2 squares. The undying soldiers cannot attack, and last until the end of the encounter. The soldiers’ defences are equal to your own, and the soldiers each have 1 hit point. A missed attack never damages an undying soldier. Enemies cannot enter a square occupied by an undying soldier, but allies can move through the soldiers’ spaces as if the soldiers were allies. The undying soldiers grant cover to allies but not enemies. Allies adjacent to any of the soldiers gain a +2 bonus to AC, and those that start their turn adjacent to any of the soldiers regain 10 hit points. |

Is that healing effect for allies a one-time event, or does it persist throughout the encounter? As for other epic destinies, Heir of Siberys is a pretty obvious option. Speaker of the Flame says epic to me, but can there be more than one? An equivalent of a Lord of Dust would be interesting, especially for warlocks... |

Is that healing effect for allies a one-time event, or does it persist throughout the encounter? It's persistent, only ending when the courtier returns to life. As for other epic destinies, Heir of Siberys is a pretty obvious option. Speaker of the Flame says epic to me, but can there be more than one? An equivalent of a Lord of Dust would be interesting, especially for warlocks... Both good options, I think. I've also been looking at the Cataclysm Mage. I know it's a fairly easy PrC to enter in 3.5, but it has a very epic vibe about it. |

In other words the Chosen each get a nifty utility power depending on their God. In the case of the Cataclysm Mage, depending on which Cataclysm they choose to focus upon (Xoriat Invasion, Quori Invasion, Imprisonment of the Rajah's) they get a nifty utility power? Or would you have a generic Cataclysm Mage that simply fixates upon all the Cataclysms that have ocurred throughout history. Heck you could even have a Mourning based Cataclysm Mage, obsessed with the "latest" disaster to befall the world. |
| #5AlasJan 13, 2009 7:34:09 | Just a sudden thought for a Cataclysm Mage power: I Alone am Left to Tell: Any time you are targeted by an attack power that affects multiple targets, as an immediate interrupt you gain +4 to all defenses until the beginning of your next turn. The idea here is that the Cassandra always comes through the catastrophe smelling of roses. The practical application is that the Cataclysm Mage doesn't have to worry so much about bunching up with allies (or getting hit by allies' area attacks). |

I haven't actually written anything out for the catalysm mage yet, so I'm very open to ideas! Options based on cataclysms sounds good to me, and I think it'd be fairly easy to bend the flavour of the catastrophes to utility powers. They might not be as flashy as the 3E mage's, since they look like they'd convert to attack powers, but I'll see what I can do. If it doesn't work, it might just have to be generic. Just a sudden thought for a Cataclysm Mage power: I like it, nice and flavourful. |
