I've been wanting to run a Xen'drik campaign for some time now, and one of the things I like about Xen'drik is the serpent cults. The fact that monstrous humanoids worship a force of the same magnitude and alignment as the Church of the Silver Flame is pretty cool. The Serpentes Fragments describe the serpent cults' beliefs as well as some of the earliest tales of the first ages of the world. They describe many of the sites in Xen'drik, and although they are rare they are an important resource to an archaeologist who operates in Xen'drik.  Lets write them.

I've been thinking about how they should be written, and they should resemble a Prophecy snippet. A few sentences, written cryptically about either a past or future event with importance to the world. A past event should be sometime between the creation of the world and about -2002 YK, as that is about the time they were collected. That includes the Ages of Dragons, Fiends, Giants, and Monsters. They could run the range from an important event such as the rule of an emperor of the giants to the Daelkyr War, but they have to have some connection to the Silver Flame, the rajahs, or the survival of the world. If you want to write about a site, that's fine, but follow the same guidelines as if you were writing about an event. These could include the site of a bound rajah, an important battleground between the fiends and the couatl/dragons, or an ancient temple to the Silver Flame.

I'll start with two.

And thus the Rainbow Wyrm bound the Darkness, and peace there was again on the Dragon Between; within fonts of silver fire is the darkness bound, and that silver fire is undefeatable. Only under one conjunction can the Flame be defeated, and when the thirteenth eye of the world returns darkness can return to the lands of the Dragon Between.
-On the binding of the rajahs and their return.

When the Darkness returns to Eberron, the last of the Rainbow Wyrms will sacrifice themselves to return the world to peace. A great mortal champion must be found to consecrate the act, and he will be unwilling and unknowing. When the world is at its greatest need, the champion will be flooded with the power of silver fire, and he will have all the power and knowledge of the Rainbow Wyrms.
-On the release of the rajahs and their re-binding.

Five dogs will fight, and thirteen dragons squabble;
Stone and wood will come alive, and chaos will be ordered;
Tracts of land will die, and all for a shiny bauble;
But Darkness will wake, stir, and try to escape.......

That's really good Ogiwan. Cryptic, but obvious enough that you know what its talking about. I plan on making a PDF when I've gotten enough passages and yours will definitely be included.

I can't claim total credit; the "thirteen dragons" was from the Draconic Prophecies series, and you gave me the idea of "Darkness" for a Rajah. But, prophecy is supposed to be cryptic. Nostradamus' prophecies, IIRC, are written in three or four languages (in the same sentence), and are horribly vague.

Of course, that's why prophecy is fun. Quite literally, it's vague enough to work.

I'll come up with another few lines in a couple days. Anybody else want to try?

Ere five become four, one becomes three and three becomes none.
Three becomes none and forever to the Keep of Fear is gone.
One becomes three and walks as the winter wolf free.
Yet those who can see truly, will find One bound by fears unduly.
Haunted by history with memory long and shadows longer.
Only with the right help will One prove stronger.

-- On King You-know-who, realised after I'd written it that it didn't meet the OPs criteria, but oh well..

Here's one that is on the Silver Flame

When the Sun Servant sees the Rainbow Wyrm falter she takes up its mantle. Joining her essence to it she becomes the Voice. And the Voice shall call onto the people. And those whose spirits can hear shall come to the Voice and build for it a great church. And the church shall be a mighty fortress against the Darkness of the Dragon Below.

-- On Tira Miron's sacrifice and the founding of the Church of the Silver Flame.

Here's one, not referring to anything specific:

"Thrice bound, thrice freed,
Speckled with drops of progenitor's blood,
The kraken rises from the deep
And flies towards the rising sun,
Where sixteen birds and one await
To discover: brings it shadow, or flame?"

For four cycles of Fire and Ice the Priest's hatred builds. Hearing not the Voice, but only its dark counterpoint he throws off the Rainbow Wyrms mantle and turns to the darkness. Only the bearer of the Sword of Songs can keep the Child from his wrath.

-- On Cardinal Krozen

... And the Wyrms despaired of what they had taught the Titans and resloved to throw them down. A great sundering they wrought upon the land and the power of the Titants was brought to ruin. The earth was shattered and the Titans forgot the secrets of power, living in the remnants of their fathers' palaces.

-- On the Dragon-Giant war.

The Maze is their home, their womb and their grave. Unknown and unloved, uncomplaining they shoulder the Rainbow Wyrms' burden, a living wall between the Waste and the Forest. When the Marauder rises the blacksmith's daughter will stand with them, to halt the Marauder's advance, or perish.

-- On the Ghaash'kala orcs. Feel free to change blacksmith's daughter into something more appropriate for your PCs ;).

Hmm, well that's all for now, might think of some more later. I've got an idea for one at least, but I still need to find a way to make 729 a significant number.

On the day of sadness what once was one will become three.
On the day of sadness what once was three will become one.

From the Gorgon will come a Dragon
From the Dragon will come a Hope
From the Hope will come a Chance.
From the Chance will come Rebirth.
From the Pheonix will come a Crown.

What was Lost durring the Last is Found.
The Making will Return what was Lost
The Sixteen will again become One.

As the Azure soars across the bow.
The Dark shines within the hold.
The Blood will boil and Towers will fall.
What once was Black will become Red.

An exerpt from the Fragments refering to the reunion of both House Cannith and of Galifar under Prince Oargev ir'Wynarn and an unknown Cannith.

Call it "thirteen cycles of [insert romantic name for plane of your choice here]" - since planar orbits aren't set in stone, this can mean whatever number you want it to.

Unfortunately having 729 be a time-span doesn't really work, otherwise your idea would be good (although the orbital periods of the planes were given in the 3.5 ECS so canonically atleast do have a set value, not that that should ever get in the way of a good story).

In the meantime, on with the prophecies:

Thirteen from the Darkness emerge
One to teach, twelve to learn
Twelve in exile, one to guard the return.

- On the emergence of the Dwarven clans [Not sure if the number of clans has ever been canonically established, but since it's Eberron twelve plus one works nicely]

Trees of great age, trees of great might
Hiding the Titans' sundered power from sight
'Neath their canopies green
They obscure arcane secrets' gleam

Twisters of words, twisters of men
Seeking knowledge beyond mortal ken
In the jungle's deep dark heart
They steal the ancient binding art

Makers of mundane, makers of wonder
Bearing marks for Wyrms to ponder
Behind the Emporer's ruined throne
They unearth the fighting men of stone

- On the various technologies 'recovered' from Xen'drik

Five brothers will quarrel over their fathers legacy,
and flames will sweep the land.
Five sisters will kill one of their own,
and cast out another.

The Darkness will split Shadow,
and use it to make the Great Bear fall.
Three nightmares will be blamed,
and four sons will begin quarreling anew.

Hunting for new stones to cast,
One of the sons will find a new old stone.
Guided bv emperors of nothing,
The stone will shatter the sky.

One with naught but dust,
will aspire to the ultimate.
He will need a sacrifice,
and he will choose the Dragon Between.

Show
This is an idea I've always had for a campaign. Essentially, the postulate is that the Lords of Dust are the cause for every major event. In this specific case, they sparked the Last War in order to encourage the Five Nations to develop arcane weapons to release their masters. That would be covered in other prophecies, for "other" heroes, or if you rather, the first three stanzas (quatrains?).

The fourth verse, and the entire prophecy for me, is about a Lord of Dust who, rather than trying to release a Rajah, seeks to rise to godhood himself. His plan is to split the House of Shadow, and while Phiarlan and Thuranni are sorting out the Shadow Schism, one of the smaller families would splinter off under the Lord's guidance (the rest of the Houses of Shadow would think that the entire family died), and be used by the Lord of Dust to, at a specific time, kill King Borenal. For bonus points, see if you can convince the guy who's playing the Elf assassin to come from the splinter group. The possibility that I entertained was that the party would find out about the plot, kill some of them, looted the bodies, and believe they had stopped the plot. When they went up in front of Borenal for a reward or some such, the splinter house would use one of the pieces of loot to shadow-port in or some such, drop a cloud o' darkness, and kill Borenal and take his soul.

Breland would blame Droaam, and declare war. The remaining nations would fall into either camp, and the last war would be started anew, for the purpose of restarting arcane research. The Lord of Dust would then use that arcane research to destroy Eberron, and elevate himself to godhood.

Modify as you will.

When once three serpents flew
Through nothing
An order was established, and a schism

Three became three, and fifteen.
One of fifteen became the anchor
The others mirrors of its aspects.

In the anchor, three serpents flew
Through nothing
Battle was waged, blood spilled.

Conflict raged
Serpents grew tired.
They rest, retire, repose.

From blood and flesh and bone
The others came
And called it home.

Great work guys! Keep up the good work, and keep the posts coming!

In the Desert of Menechtarun lies an aspect of Darkness; the Blade of Shudra laid within the Prison of Darkness, but was returned to the light by mortals. It will be used to create a weapon of war, using the gift of storm Siberys gave to the spawn of elves and humans.

For Death to be reborn, the Red Wolf must howl.
For the Red Wolf to howl, Fire must grow cold.
For Fire to cool, the wyvern must strike at the greatest child.
For the wyvern to strike, Shadow must be cleft in twain.

Show
It's so-so, but essentially, Vol might have a plot that requires that Karrnath do something, which requires Thrane to be too busy, which requires the Thrane royal family to attack Jaela, which requires the Shadow Schism. Meh.
