Are there any rumors of a Living Eberron Campaign? Eberron is my favorite realm, however, the Living Forgotten Realms Campaign seems to fit my busy life.

From what I have heard, there will not be a RPGA/WPN (or whatever initials they use now) backed Living Eberron campaign. WotC has said that they have no interest in splitting the player pool.

There will probably be one-shots and things like that.

The problem with multiple separate living campaigns is that it means that people with characters for one campaign can't participate in the other.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with expanding LFR into "Living D&D" that featured adventures set in FR and Eberron, and allowed players to bring PCs to any adventure they wanted that they were level appropriate for. If someone doesn't want to cross settings they are free to choose not to.

That's... disappointing. I've been hoping on the side for there to be a Living Eberron, even if I'm working on my own campaign. I like Eberron and I'd like to play, not just DM. A Living Eberron campaign and the Game Table would give some hope for of me finally not only playing but also getting those handful of reward points I need to get my first reward as a player.

I don't see Living D&D as being an option on the table, though. At least until we have Spelljammer/Planewalker rules. (Don't go saying it's core. Even if it is they still haven't properly supported them just yet. We'll see if they're really core once we look at the books for the Elemental Chaos this year, and the Astral Plane whenever year.)

While the RPGA games are mostly one size fits all, each character still is more then just their power but also their backstories. Can you explain what a Spellscarred Genasi Swordmage, Dragon Marked Halfling Barbarian, and a Tri-Kreen Psion are doing in a seaside bar on the planet of Krynn? We might be open to everything in 4th Edition, but that shouldn't include cans of worms without good reason.

Having fun.

"Purist," is just another way of saying, "Snob."

Purist? My problem isn't purity of the campaign worlds. You could have Tarrasque as beasts of burden and my only concern would be "What do they eat?"

My problem is explaining everything. I'm not sure how different Living Forgotten Realms is from Living Greyhawk, but the concept of it being a Living World is that things have set reasons for being so that you can move from DM to DM and not have contradictions. The changes to uniform the cosmologies help with some of that, but not for everything. I just checked the RPGA character creation guidelines, and they don't allow Dragonmarks or Spellscarrs in their core guidelines. There's good reason for that.

Now, you could base everything out of Sigil. No mess, no fuss, no waiting for content supporting traveling between campaign worlds on spelljammer vessels. Just explain the location and control of the stable portals to the various campaign worlds and all's good. The things is, by that point it isn't Living D&D, it's Living Planeswalker. Nothing wrong with that, but call a spade a spade.

Why do you need Spelljammers to have a living campaign that allowed adventures set in Eberron AND Forgotten Realms? Or Planewalkers?

Why do you need a reason for it working?

The is the thing I love most about 4e. The rules only focus on what needs rules. If I want something to work a given way (as a DM), I can just say "it works this way." For example, if I want a floating mountain (sort of like an island in the sky) I can just say "That there mountain floats." I don't need a reason for it to float.

Likewise, if I want to run adventures across settings, I don't need to explain how it works with portals or spelljammer ships, I can just say "Last week you were in Cormyr, the week before you were in the East Rift, now you are in Sharn."

LFR already doesn't deal with travel between modules, so it is pretty much a nonissue. Except that some people would get up in arms that there was "more eberron in my forgotten realms."

But you know what, other than the names of places and organizations and the exclusion of Dragonmarks, LFR is practically Eberron. Especially if you are playing with replayers and DMs that are willing to reflavor modules.

I've only played a few living games, but most of the objections I can't see comeing up.

"How would you explain x, x, x, and x getting together."

No one ever asks or seems to care why the characters are together. The clock is ticking.

Probably why I don't like RPGA games.
