| #1EnderXenocide0Sep 21, 2012 9:59:12 | I'm trying to find a way to tie the goals of one of my players into the main storyline. He's a member of the Order of the Emerald Claw, but high enough that he knows the Blood of Vol is being manipulated by the Queen of the Dead. He doesn't care, though, since he's driven mainly by revenge at the moment (against Kaius). The main bad guys of the campaign are the Dreaming Dark. They're trying to restart The Last War with a very complicated, intricate plan. The rest of the characters in the campaign either have a direct reason to fight the Dreaming Dark (three of them are Kalashtar) or and indirect reason (one is fighting someone allied with the Dreaming Dark). But I can't find a good reason to have this player stay with the party. Any ideas? I can give more information if you'd like. I just didn't want to bog this post down with extraneous details. EDIT: I suppose I should mention that I actually plan for this player to end up killing Kaius, which ends up being the first domino to fall in their plan to restart the war. So there is a clear connection LATER. It's the early stuff that needs work. The plan is to have the characters meet in Sharn after they each complete their own mini-quests that lead them there. EDIT2: It would, perhaps, also be of note that this character is an intelligent undead. And somewhere in the campaign, I'd like to introduce the Psiforged. |

So, your character has a reason to go with the party (stop the plot) because its directed at the target of his revenge. Once he takes down Kaius, you pull a Nice Job Breaking It, Hero and he's with your group forever. Framing Kaius, though, may be...complex. But hey, that's the modus operandi of the Dreaming Dark, is it not? |
