Looking for musical themes for my game...

I'm an Eberron DM who's looking to add a bit of ambiance to my session by playing some music on my computer.

However, I don't have much of a list of themes for my game, and I would like you to help me dress a list or lists of themes from video games, movies, TV series, bands and such to complement the PCs' whereabouts.

Could you give me a hand ?

Here's a category of themes:

"Title" (source) [explanation]

- Sharn the City of Towers (main hub for the PCs)

- Khorvaire continent (outdoors)

- Argonessen continent (outdoors)

- Sarlona continent (outdoors)

- Xen'drik continent (outdoors)

- Capital Cities

- Mournland

- Depths of Khyber/underground location

- Encounters (standard creatures, "boss" characters)

I know that the Final Fantasy games have a LOT of music, from cities to dungeons to battle themes (technically, thanks to the Dissidia: Final Fantasy OST, I could easily fill the Encounters section with all battle themes, but that would be too easy), but I would like to widen the spectrum a bit. Feel free to list FF themes though; if some could be helpful to me, post them away.

Encounters with dinosaurs-almost anything from the Jurassic Park soundtrack

Encounters (or travels) at sea-"Victory at Sea" theme or "Hymn to the Sea" from the Titanic soundtrack

Encounters with giants- Just about anything by Richard Wagner (think "Ride of the Valkyries")

Capital cities- "Triumphal March" from the Verdi opera Aida and the Olympic theme "Summon the Heroes" by John Williams. Both songs evoke imagery of a triumphal return of heroes.

Underground- "Slave CHildren's Crusade" from the Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom soudtrack. This is perfect for any fight involving dwarves also.

May 04, 2009 15:31:06 One thing thats helpful if you have any band albums that have instrumental tracks on them i.e. Metallica's Orion or Call of Kutulu. Those are usually good for a quick fix if you wanna check them out oh and STP's No Memory is pretty good too its short but I can usually find a purpose for it.

May 04, 2009 17:14:41 I don't usually use music while gaming, but it i did i would make use out of dragon quest music, that's me though.

May 06, 2009 2:12:51 I'm a big fan of both Ergo Proxy #1 and Witch Hunter Robin #2. Some of the music themes from Tenchi Muyo! TV are suitably moody enough.

And, cuz I can - some various themes from Persona 3! :D

May 13, 2009 22:46:01 I'd also recommend "Two Steps From Hell", a 'band' of two guys who compose music for film trailers and such. Two of their tracks, 'Down with the Enterprise' and 'Freedom Fighters' were used in the trailers for the new Star Trek film.

I'd also suggest Michael Giacchino's excellent score for the film itself.

You can find even more samples of those artists and their tracks all over YouTube and elsewhere...
