I have a player who is a Kalashtar Artificer who has an aberrant dragonmark and wants it to be the mark of Justice or mark of Truth (not usually the realm of an aberrant dragonmark but I want to work with her) I want to do something more akin to the standard dragonmark feast which give a benefit but also give access to some rituals. So I was thinking of something like: When creatures are hit with a daily power they gain: Every time the creature damages another being they take the daily user's 1/2 level + cha psychic damage until the end of the encounter. But I wanted to add on rituals for determining truth or ferreting out lies. I'm thinking Seek Rumor, Object Reading, Inquisitives Eyes, etc. But I couldn't find anything in either the compendium or using the search function on the boards that would allow for a Zone of Truth style ritual or for mind reading. I'm happy to homebrew it myself but I thought I'd see if anyone has done something like this before and build on that. Thanks. (Hope it's not gauche but I'm posting this in the Ritual forum as well, let me know if I should temove one) |

Since this power comes from an aberrant mark, personally I will go with something like the Slime Devil power: Scour the Mind (Psychic) At-Will 1/round Attack: Melee 1 (one creature grabbed by the devil); +19 vs. Will Hit: The devil telepathically asks the target a question, and the target must answer the question truthfully or else take 3d8 + 11 psychic damage. |

It grants bonuses to perception and grants the bearer access to rituals related to scrying, investigation, and uncovering the truth. If I recall correctly, Zone of Truth is very popular amongst House Medani inquisitives and prosecutors. That said, Aberrant marks tend to be a bit more aggressive and dangerous than regular dragonmarks. Point out to the player that the Mark of Detection does much of what they want, and if that doesn't work, a power like the kind Gilo provided seems a nice enough fit. I think that rather than simply finding the truth, powers related to smiting/punishing the unjust would be more approriate. Or maybe ripping the memories from another, giving you the information, but leaving them dazed would work. Something like: Whenever you score a critical hit with a power with the Psychic keyword, you gain combat advantage against the enemy until the end of their next turn, and they are dazed until the end of your next turn. You could create a coupleof new rituals, as well. |
