Care to put a little more information up for those of us that don't bother with Dragon? Doesn't need to be rules, but the basic idea of what you're talking about would be helpful.

I don't have the magazine handy, but as I recall its various options such as adding non magical bonuses to hit, damage, making armor lighter, more durable (gives DR as I recall), and so on.

It raises the base cost of the item and the craft dcs. Many of the various enhancements can be tossed together but some don't mix for obvious balance issues (as I recall the durable armor ability makes it heavier so it and the lighter addition don't mix).

I'm sure I'm off on the stuff to a point but I do know thats the basic jist of it.

The material also requires a new feat and only allows you a certain amount of those techniques.

Armor reinforcing is one of them... it adds one grand additional gp to the cost, requires the armor be MW already, adds wieght to the armor, and gives the armor an additional +1 ac.

Ah, well in that case, the most obvious place is House Cannith.
"Cannith Steel" is supposed to be widely regarded as the best steel in Khovair, that makes the strongest weapons and armor. The normal rules consider cannith grade steel to be the norm, and that unregulated non-cannith steel weapons would have less hitpoints or hardness to represent being of inferior quality.

You could easily turn that around to say that Cannith is the main source of your mastercraft weapons and armor.

I'd say they would all work in Eberron, and I really liked that article.

As for one's I've invented, I did have one called 'pattern welding'. This was an old technique used when steel was still hard to make. Basically, the edge would be a strip of steel, and that would be welded between to billets of iron or poor grade steel. I know that doesn't sound masterwork but I'm thinking it could be used to add something like being able to overcome some damage reductions with having to make the entire blade out of the special material.

that is EXACTLY what I am talking about, the effects not the exact mastercrafting you put down of course!
