| #1lelielSep 13, 2009 20:26:47 | Anyway, bad jokes aside... I just realized how much Eberron lends itself to a setting similar to Metal Gear Solid (no one's really a true hero or truly evil, you can't take five steps before running into a conspiracy), and given the themes of coming war that is nearly impossible to avert, I realized that all I have to do is add walking tanks and hammy acting and you've got a good springboard into a stealth-action-with-lots-of-cutscenes game. So, the idea is that the PCs are a FOXHOUND-analog group of soldiers-a squad of people, each with a unique talent-that gets thrust into a Breland-sponsored mission that turns out to be the exact opposite of routine. After clearing out the traditional superpowered terrorists and growing to really doubt the so-called purity of the nation, they end up having to go rouge themselves to stop the schemes of both the Five Nations in order to save them, and the mysterious Vulcan Hunters, part-Warforged monstrosities who have lost their humanity in the name of greater battlefield control-and are looking for recompense. And the guy the Five Nations send to bring the PCs back in line? Evil Solid Snake analog. The PCs are now permitted to run in terror. So, good, basic idea? Now to get the DM experience before PHB3 comes out-and everyone wants to play Riedran Psycho Mantis. |

In case you don't have 5N, the King's Shadows are the most secret division of the King's Citadel. The members of the King's Shadows are the most elite agents of Breland and carry out operations where plausible deniability is required. |

| #4morgrumSep 14, 2009 18:01:18 | The King's Citadel is divided into 5 branches: - The King's Swords; elite warriors - The King's Shields; provide protection for the royal family and other dignitaries - The King's Wands; provide magical support for other Citadel Branches - The King's Dark Lanterns; gather intelligence and perform esionage - The King's Shadows; undertake the most secret missions that Breland does not want to be associated with. Both the Dark Lanterns and the Shadows are secret branches, with the Shadows being even more secret than the Dark Lanterns. The difference seems to be that the Dark Lanterns carry out 'regular' espionage, whereas the Shadows are used when Breland wants to be absolutely certain that their involvement is not discovered. I don't think I've seen any mention of the Shadows outside of the Five Nations sourcebook though, so its not surprising you haven't heard of them. |

| #8brokenjadeSep 20, 2009 11:18:34 | perhaps some one has activated a creation forge and is making warforged titans to overpower one of the 5n |

OK I'm not even thinking of running a metal gear campaign anytime soon, but that piece of advice is just too god to pas up. I'll definetively use that in my campaign. |
