I ran across a mention of mind seeds in the Sharn sourcebook and couldn't remember reading anything about it elsewhere. Now, I can more or less figure out what it is, but would like to read up on the exact effects (for example how to remove one).

Could anyone point me to the right source?

Not sure if there's a revised version in Complete Psionics, but you should definitely be able to find a version in Expanded Psionics Handbook. These are the only two major psionic books in 3.5, along with a few new powers here and there in the other books.

It's on page 119 of the Expanded Psionics Handbook. Basically over a week the victim becomes a mental duplicate of the power user, with 8 less class levels. They're not under control but since they now have the memories of the person who mind seeded them they share their goals.

Complete Psionic reprinted most, if not all, of those powers found in other books as well as a few from WotC's Mind's Eye.

Thanks for the quick response, especially the link from Amaril. I don't own any of the psionics books and didn't feel like buying them just for this.

Hmm, seems like there is absolutely nothing you can do about the mind seed after the germination period. Back to the drawing board, it seems..

Actually, I remember a wish, miracle, or reality revision (a psionic wish) will revert the process. Given that mindseed is an 8th level psionic power, this is not asking too much. :D

Just as a side note, given that mind seed is an important tool of the Dreaming Dark, there is a version of the power in the 4E ECG. It's a different approach than the 3E version, but it will address how it works and what you can do about it.

If I interpret correctly, that's actually a power?
It'll be great to see such powers are not presented as rituals in 4E.

It WAS a power in 3E. In 4E it's not a power or a ritual - you'll just have to wait and see. I think it's a logical interpretation under the 4E mechanics and could be incorporated into a power when psionics are released.

That makes it exciting!

Obviously, it's a "consumable" magic item.

Probably. Or it could be a regular magic item. Strange, in my opinion anyway, that this will be included in the ECG. Anybody see what I'm saying? I mean how important to the Dreaming Dark could it be?
