Mar 23, 2009 12:33:52 Is there any official information, that states whether or not any of the moons of Eberron have breathable atmospheres? For a while I've been toying with the idea of an adventure where the pc's volunteer to be part of some crackpot artificers expedition to one of the moons. There they will encounter the various races and creatures that interest me, yet can't find a place to put on the world itself. Is this conceivable, or is it too sci-fi and cheesy?

Mar 23, 2009 13:40:19 Official? No. It's something that we've left to the DM. If you want to have a wacky pulp Voyage To The Moons, I think it's great... but it's not automatically part of the world.

Mar 24, 2009 21:52:09 The biggest write-up you can find on the moons is within an old Dragonshard article. But even there, not much info on whether the moons are habitable by your average flesh-bags. Warforged or other entities that don't require air/atmosphere on the other hand. Heck the giants could have beamed (teleported) a whole wad of their own warforged up onto a moon just before the dragons arrived for the BBQ. And now 40,000 years later their doomsday creations have awoken, ready to descend and destroy the world... mwuhahahaha...

He jumped right back an hour later because he found out where the Eberron setting designers put the Kender.

Do you think the Giants could've had future uses in mind for their mooncrusher eldritch machines?

Heck the giants could have beamed (teleported) a whole wad of their own warforged up onto a moon just before the dragons arrived for the BBQ.

Do you really think that the giants built warforged? I thought it was pretty clear now that most were vessels constructed by and for the invading Quori. Then again, saying anything's "clear" could be a stretch.

Yup. The Quori of that age may have invented the "Quorforged", but Giants may have captured their forges and made their own soldiers. Either as mindless war golems or vessels for more loyal essences.

And of course the Drow have got thier hands on forges and made warforged scorpions... Who knows what they may be building in the depths of Xen'Drik, in it's unfathomable geometries.

I prefer the version where the Quori stole the idea from the Giants' dreams. Furthermore, the existence of the Quorforged doesn't exclude the existence of Giant-wrought warforged.

Perhaps a Couatl told a group of giants a portion of the Draconic Prophechy which inspired the giants to put the machines on the surface of a moon.

I'd also not be so sure on who created Warforged (I'd also not be so sure on who invented them). Regardless I'd be curious as to why the elves knew nothing of the Warforged. Surely they have historical texts that would explain the Warforged. If the elves (as in, elven ruling class) did know about the Warforged I'd be curious as to why they didn't say anything about them.

At the end of the day it's entirely up to the DM. I like ambiguity, so it's very unlikely my players will be able to get enough concrete evidence to prove that the giants ate eggs for breakfast. There are hints for and against, but these are mcguffins and plothooks put in place by Wizards to give the DM as much possible elbow room as possible to craft the game as they wish. Options are nice, options keep players paranoid and on their toes. Complacent players tend to meet nasty ends :evillaugh .
