More symbionts in Eberron Campaign Guide?

Jul 03, 2009 14:44:24 I just took my party through the Khyber's Harvest free adventure. They are quite enthusiastic about symbionts. One of the guys is wearing three of them. Will there be more symbiont items included in the new eberron campaign book in the items section or something? I'm thinking of using the symbiont coverd dwarf for some RP stuff. He is going to be some sort of chosen one of Belashyrra, who has started some sort of civil war among the Daelkyr lords. and there will be encounters with the gatekeepers aplenty.

Jul 04, 2009 7:28:07 I would be extremely surprised if symbionts were introduced in a free adventure and we didn't see more than 3 of them detailed in a future book. Although it could be Adventurer's Vault 2 rather than the ECS (in order to encourage non-Eberron games to use symbionts).

You're looking at it the wrong way, I'm afraid. The reason you see symbionts in the free adventure is because they AREN'T in the ECG, and I didn't wanted 4E to be an Eberron Without Symbionts... so in writing the adventure, I took the opportunity to work them in.

With that said, now that they DO exist in 4E, the idea that you might see more in Adventurer's Vault 2 seems likely.

Well, it's worth noting that symbionts are in the adventure because WotC gave me the opportunity to WRITE the adventure. And while they aren't in the ECG, there's a good section on Khyber and the daelkyr; the loss of symbionts is a factor of how much other stuff is in there, and it wouldn't surprise me if they appear in the AV2.
