So, I advanced the plot of my game, saving Breland from it's war debts; by giving the player characters 3 simple information gathering missions.  Although I warned them that the contact may want them to do something in return.

They go to their first contact, a gnomish version of the Collector:

Who worked as a notary in the local House Khundarak bank.  He said he will reveal the information on how banking actually works, if the players copy a Daikhaani pyramid in Margrave University exactly.

Something similar to this:

One of the party members demanded the information for free, and the informant won't play ball.  The informant reminded him that he can't get the info for free, especially if it will destroy the illusion of how banking works in the world.  The PC wants to steal the information.  I'm feeling a little bit frustrated with the PC right now.

I'm thinking of making the security tougher than what I said it would be.  Or else hide the information so the player would be so stumped as to where it is.  The PC is trying to hide from the dragons, so I don't know how it would be frustrating for him just to copy a polished basalt pyramid to hand over to the gnome.

The notary could mention that any physical copy of the information that they need is stored in the bank. Hopefully the House Kundarak reputation will dissuade the player. Intimidation is unlikely to work if the notary knows that the PCs won't stoop too far, or that the guards are too good for violence to be an effective option.

I know the information you are talking about.  I doubt anyone would write it out explicitly.  They could figure it out if they got the bank's financial records.  And are accountants or economists.

But hey, if they think planning a heist of a Kundarak bank is easier than giving the gnome what he wants, why not?  They have to figure out what they are looking for, obtain information on the security measures, plan and execute the heist, and then find someone to decipher the information for them.  That should be good of a few levels.
