Need Some Ideas for an odd campaign

I have an idea for a campaign starting next week. Basically, all ht PCs wake up in the crypts under Sharn, all in coffins or on slabs or somesuch. Turns out that they've all been murdered and that a friednly Necromancer/Cleric of the keeper decides that they should keep working towards they're "heroic destiny" and whatnot.

All my players are cool with this.

And then there's the problem. i have no clue who would kill them, but I know that the murders won't be related (when viewed at face value.) I want the classic "weird as hell" crime scenes for each of them, but I need ideas for how each of them died. they don't have big backstories (most are new to Eberron) so i'm ruling some amnesia.

tl;dr Who would kill the PCs and who is behind it all?

Players are:

Aurel, Revenant (Shadar-Kai) Assassin/Bard
Creslik, Kenku Rogue
Laceration, Eladrin Avenger of The Fury
Rookie, Changeling Shaman

and a few others yet to be decided on.

Thanks in advance,
-FF

Pick ironic deaths for each of them.

Have the Kenku thrown out of a tower, falling to his death as he impacted on a bridge below.
Have the Shadar-kai assassin/bard be crushed by a falling piano
Have the Avenger of the Fury "accidentally" be thrown into an industrial furnace in the Cogs, burning her alive.
And have the shaman be mauled to death by animals escaped from a Zoo.

On the outside, these look like seperate events, but they can all be orchestrated by a single person of your choosing. Maybe the Lords of Dust, or maybe even the Chamber. Anyone with a connection to the prophecy, who understands that these individuals have a "heroic" destiny and who wants to stop them, could be the culprit, and could easily plan these seemingly disconnected events. (Hire assassins, enrage local thugs and sic them on the player, mind-control animals, and sabotage equipment.)

That's a pretty diverse group indeed.  So they won't know each other, right?  Banding together for mutual murder investigation sounds fun.  Personally, to help keep them together, I'd have them all murdered for the same reason (i.e. orchestrated by the same group), just in different ways.

When you say crypts, do you mean in the City of the Dead?  (Which is on the north and east side of the Middle City, if I remember right.) Map link.

A revenant (aren't they already dead?), a kenku, an eladrin, and a changeling. No humans among them.  Avenger, assassin, spy, shaman.  Hmmm. They actually sound like they were once spies.  What about that angle?  What if they were each a spy employed by a different nation?  One from from Breland, one from Aundair, one from Thrane, one from Karrnath...and each of them was caught as they tried to infiltrate some tower somewhere, perhaps where a weapon was being devised...that each government feared would be used against them in the next war.  Perhaps that is why there were sent in the first place.

Maybe their bodies got thrown into the Dagger River and floated into the Mud Caves(Cliffside) to be resurrected by a Radiant Idol (a fallen angel) as his unwilling cultists (he will threaten to take their spirits back -if they fail to preform some tasks for him).

Now they have to fulfill the angel's tasks along with the original mission (the one they failed at when they died in Sharn) and find away to gain their own freedom.

Brilliant ideas, everyone.

Yes, I meant the City of the Dead, Couldn't remember the name, and I just loaned out my copy of Sharn: City of Towers.

I may have to remove Gath or just ignore him and make up my own character to rez them. I'm pretty sure he/she/it will have knowledge of their Prophecy-given role and wants them to succeed. Someone (dragon? Lord of Dust? Weirdo with nothing better to do?) orchestrated their deaths to prevent them from saving the world or whatever.

I've read The Los Angeles BB murders and think that having the PCs investigate the rooms/locations where they died would be grand, but some really fun hidden messages/puzzles would be great.

Thanks for the help so far, and please keep it up!
