The Feyspire of Taer Syraen, laid bare at last. Keith likes his Karrnath...

Well Karrnath is popular, although this takes place in Karrnath it is more about one of the Eldarin cities.

Don't worry - we're moving to a very different part of Khorvaire next month!

Hey,

I like it a lot - particularly the link to the Prince of Frost - which seems a good way to leverage the work that's been done for the generic setting, essentially by reflavouring it for eberron.

Unsurprisingly, I'm a fan. So little is known about the feyspires that ANY information is damned useful.

So, well done Keith!

Personally I like the little bit of double-Karnnath love. Two very different places in the country kinda lets you explore the options available to adventurers running around in it.

ALSO, love love love everything about the Feyspiries. Personally, as much as I try to fight it, my inner muse is just entirely dismissive of anything to do with fey. I just can't get my inspiration to take it seriously.

When I see such articles like this that really highlight the "story books tales taken VERY seriously" vibe, it really does wonders.

I also like how information about the feyspires is slowly trickling out. (Well, I like that it is being revealed, maybe not the "slowly" part so much). But it's nice to see how these things FIT into Eberron.

Unlike a certain other 4e addition to the setting....

...I'm looking at you, Baator. *glare* = _ =

Exactly! Whenever I peruse my 3.5 Eberron stuff, I always wonder, "What happened to the Eladrin?" "Oh, yes thats 4.E"

I mostly ignore the nine hells.

A bit off topic here, but I struggled with the planar changes to Eberron quite a bit.  The lack of information, coupled with the loss of the 13-1 theme really bugged me.  In the end, I decided tp drop Baator from the cosmology, but I kept the Nine Hells... I just stuck them in some of the other planes (i.e. Cannia is in Risia and Malbolge is in Thelanis), but each is linked by the River Styx.

You know, that actually makes a lot of sense. I might borrow it...

Well, in the old cosmology, Dal Quor was the -1, but Xoriat was locked up too, so it was like 13-2......

Borrow away.  Here are my notes...

  1. Avernus = Shavarath;  the battlefield feeling made it an obvious choice.

  2. Dis = Dolurrh; this one wasn't as obvious, but I figured one of the hells should be here... Dis is often described as being littered with skulls, so I figured it worked.

  3. Minauros = Lamannia; I figured a swampy area of the forest realm made sense.

  4. Phlegethos = Fernia; with all the volcanic activity it made sense to me.

  5. Stygia = Risia; the place is on a glacier... where else would it be?

  6. Malbolge = Thelanis; since it used to be ruled by a hag and it's a poisoned garden, why not have a feywild hell...

  7. Maladomini = Mabar; being traditionally a realm of tunnels and pits, the eternal night seemed to fit.

  8. Cania = Risis (but not to close to Stygia)

  9. Nessus = This one I went a little experimental with... it's generally believed to be in Fernia, but some tales put it in Dolurrh, Shavarath, or even Daanvi. Maybe it has no fixed locale or even that it exists simultaneously in multiple planes. Regardless, the only known means of reaching the Ninth Hell is by traveling the entirety of the River Styx (past the other eight hells).
