The Yunqu hail from Sarlona, as the result from an experiment of the Inspired. When the Inspired had heard of the mongrel ogres (Eneko) who were descended from half-giant ogre pairings, they thought of a new breed of half-giant, instead experimenting with yeti blood to exterminate the rest of the mountainous Akiak rebels who had survived the recent Night of Razor Dreams. They "watered-down" the yeti blood to make a creature not as strong but more intelligent and capable of understanding. Unknown to the Inspired, even, the yeti-blood had a psionic taint to them. When they were complete, the Inspired were proud of their work, calling them the Yunqu. They prepared to set them as prison guards before they could transfer them to the Harmonious Shield. As one of the guards, named Urong watched over the cell of an imprisoned kalashtar, the kalashtar started to speak to Urong. He told Urong about an ancient religion known as the Path of Embodiment, or il-Ashtelo. Urong learned of the strenuous meditation technique known as Nekishal Lasht, meaning "Focused Rest" in Quor. Fascinated by the stories of the Path, Urong secretly gathered the Yunqu and led a surprise escape of all the Yunqu. By the time Officials had arrived, all the guards had been slain and there were no Yunqu left. The Yunqu escaped to the Paqaa Mountains, where they became quick allies of the Akiak dwarves. The Yunqu nested high atop the mountains to study the Path of Embodiment. While they enjoy peace when there is any, they are always ready for war. Most Yunqu take levels in psychic warrior, and monks are also common. However, divine minds are not unheard of among the Yunqu. The Path of Embodiment only answers to divine minds. Its mantles are Life, Mental Power, Physical Power, and Repose. its favored weapon is the Hook Sword. Yunqu +2 Con, -4 Cha, +2 Str, -2 Dex, +2 Wis Medium Size Giant-type Yunqu Weapon Proficiencies:The Yunqu treat the Hook Sword as a Martial Weapon, and a Yunqu who has levels in Monk is automatically proficient with the Hook Sword.
