| #1jedi123Oct 24, 2009 23:10:17 | I know there was discussion a while ago about catastrophic dragons, but the thread has faded, and I also wanted to broaden the discussion to planar dragons as well as any other non traditional dragons out there. My thoughts for Catastrophic Dragons: We know most dragons were formed when the blood of Eberron and Syberis mingled, so what if the Catastrophic dragons were what happened when Khyber and Eberron's blood mixed? Neither fiend, not true dragons, and distrusted by both. This distrust and infighting amonst themselves lead to them being hunted to near extinction. Some stay near Tiamat's chasm, one or two take residence in the proving grounds ( i think thats the name of the area of Argonessen). Others hide among the other continents. I don't have any ideas for planar dragons, so I wanted to pose the question about their origins. Perhaps they are are cases where one "parent" was more dominent than the other, but this seems to be starting to stretch. So where do the shadow dragons and mirage dragons come from? Where do they reside? Do non traditional dragons pay attention to the prophecy as well, or do they have other interests? I want your oppinion. |

I guess my only concern is that as we are yet to see any solid material (to my knowledge) in regards to Catastrophic Dragons, we may not want to pidgeon-hole them just yet. That being said, having them reflecting perhaps the eternal battle between Khyber and Siberys could be quite nifty, reflecting their own raging (and perhaps unstable) power. Each one is torn between the nature of Siberys and that of Khyber, creation and destruction, chaos and order. |

True but what about the planar dragons? It may never actually come up in story but I like to have backstory on things like these just in case, and I may use a planar dragon to make an interesting Dragon King of Argonessen. |

The planar dragons are simply the descendants of dragons that chose to explore the planes or where otherwise exposed to huge amounts of planar magic. Some have gone rogue, others are still loyal to Argonessen, protecting the interests of the Thousand Flights, the Chamber, the Light of Siberys or even the Eyes of Chronepsis. |

I would, especially since dragons may play a big part in the upcomming campaign I'm working on, but I can't find it, or the other 3.5 books easily, And with limited funds I'm having to pick and choose witch 4e books to buy as is. is there by chance a pdf of it, I know wizards used to do that but I'm not sure if they continued it that long. The planar ttravel works, specifically it inspires me to make the first planar dragons guardians and hunters, watching for further evils or hunting escaped demons and devils. As time went on these lines have adapted to the world they claimed, some have returned to Argonessen, others stand by their ancient duty, |
