Taint of the Black Brigade: Chronicles of Abraxis Wren, Book 2

I'm not sure if I put this in the correct forum, but I couldn't tell which place to put it. I fist put it in General, but was told to try posting in here.

At any rate, here's my question.
So I found this novel on Amazon, Taint of the Black Brigade: Chronicles of Abraxis Wren, Book 2 by Paul Crilley. So... what's the first book in the series? I typed in "Chronicles of Abraxis Wren" and nothing except that book comes up. Anybody lend me a hand? I can't even find the first one in the upcoming DND Product releases either :/

Jun 24, 2010 17:26:44 The book you're looking for is called 'Night of the Long Shadows,' part of a series called 'The Inquisitives.' The books aren't related, so if you only want to pick up that book you can without missing anything.

It's a fun read, one of my favorite Eberron novels I've read so far. I'm looking forward to the next book.

My favorites so far have been the Heirs of Ash series. How do these ones compare?

I did read Legacy of Wolves, in the Inquisitives series and loved it too!

Jun 24, 2010 22:05:00 I haven't read Heirs of Ash yet (but that might be the next series I'll start). I've read the Draconic Prophecy series and the prequel In the Claws of the Tiger, the Dreaming Dark series, Legacy of Wolves, and of course Night of the Long Shadows.

With that comparison I found Night of the Long Shadows to be my favorite (with Legacy of Wolves coming 2nd). I have to commend Paul Crilley for writing such an enjoyable story and I hope the next book will be just as good.

Thanks for your email. The "first" book in the Chronicles is actually this book here: www.amazon.com/Night-Long-Shadows-Inquis... It's called Night of the Long Shadows, and it was actually the second book of the Inquisitives series. The Inquisitives series was a series of 4 standalone mystery novels linked by the fact that they all featured Eberron's equivalent of the private investigator, but Abraxis Wren was popular enough that Wizards asked me to spin him off into his own series. So Long Shadows is really book 1, and Wizards of the Coast are supposed to be re-branding it to reflect that for the Kindle edition.

I'm kinda hoping that Cutter comes back in Taint of the Black Brigade. That and to find out more of Wren's past. I remember him alluding to being involved in the Last War in some way, and also that a job he and his old crew did went badly.

But yeah, Nights of Long Shadows was the best out of all the Inquisitives books in my opinion.

I have to admit a great fondness for Zed, though, because of the numerous amounts of fantastic lines he has. Similarly, Shaiman has quite a few fantastic lines that I would love to drop in a session, as does Gerith.

Now, concerning the Inquisitives books, I don't know which one I like the most.....I want to say Long Shadows and Darkwood Mask are tied. Meh. I guess I'll just have to re-read them. Oh darn.

Ooo....this Invisible Order series looks interesting, Mr. Crilley....
