| #1byzcathJan 06, 2011 10:54:47 | I had posted sometime ago about this but can not seem to find the thread. I am interested in the Order of the Broken Blade, they are were an order of long sword using monks in v3.5. The long sword was usable with they flurry of blows but the damage was the long sword damage. My original post I asked for class ideas with the possibility of a hybrid class. Someone suggested that I just use the current Monk class and require that the character take a weapon proficiency in long sword which would make that a Monk's weapon. The Monks powers that I looked at all require an implement, which the long sword would fulfill as any weapon a Monk is proficient in is an implement. But the damage of those powers are never [W]. I have not found any (though I did only do a quick scan) Monk powers that cause weapon damage. So fluff wise could we say that the damage is coming from the sword and the psychic power Monk? If anyone has other class suggestions I am open to hearing those too. I was (originally) leaning towards hybrid Monk and either hybrid Fighter or Avenger. |

However, if anyone coming in wants to devote themselves more to Dol Arrah than a dragonmarked house, Monk/Avenger instead. This is all contingent on whether you're going for flavor or crunch, though. Since Avengers have implement attacks, the Avenger might be the best, but I think Fighter fits best. |

So the hybrid fighter gets proficiency with military melee and the hybrid monk gets implements "weapons with which you have proficiency" so does that mean a long sword can be used as a monk implement? |
