So one of my players want to play a gnome paladin of Boldrei. We're starting the campaign with The MArk of Prophecy adventure in the ECS. Currently the plan is to have him accompany another character as a sort of protector, but I was wondering if there good ideas i'm not coming up with, divine classes are not my specalty.

I'll make him a kind of a Last War historian.
As a follower of Boldrei hes seek to heal society's Last War wounds by: updating lists with details about fallen soldiers, collecting information on battles, elucidate the fate of persons unaccounted for so that the families may be informed, clear some of the dangerous weapons left in the fields of battle which may still pose danger to their surrounding communities etc.

That seems quite apt to me - gnomes love history and secrets like no-one else too.

Having him specifically looking for one of the two NPCs inside the tower from the adventure would be useful, and could potentially add some emotional investment - trying to bring the final information on the whereabouts of his brother or what-have-you.
