| #1ChronosCrowApr 02, 2008 14:00:03 | Hey, haven't been on the Eberron board for a while. Have there been high level adventure idea threads that someone can point me towards? |
| #2raniaApr 02, 2008 14:49:00 | Hmm, there IS someone talking about an alien invasion... a mention of a githyanki invasion.... That's all I can find so far. They're both on the first page. However, I haven't looked at all the threads on here, so there might be more. |
| #3AmarilApr 02, 2008 17:52:08 | Dragons of Eberron |
| #4mystrichApr 02, 2008 23:45:06 | What level are you looking for? Level 10ish has Hell's Heart on the site (it's a sequel to two other adventures from Dragon 133 and 150). 15+ you could easily make a campaign based on a lot of things found in Eberron (Daelkyr, something else on the planes since you start to have access to the right spells, Rajahs, etc). |
| #5ChronosCrowApr 03, 2008 2:20:00 | What level are you looking for... I'm looking for lvl 20+ My players have been going for 2 years strong with this one game & they want to keep it so I'm trying my best to reward them. I just need a new influx of ideas for some adventures & I've never run a high lvl campaign, let alone a high level in Eberron. I am well aware of the low-level/mid-level attitude of the campaign, but an interesting thing arises: What happens when the PC's become the most powerful in the world (in terms of "man's society")? How do you keep things compelling and believable. Really, i was just hopping for a thread where people posted a bunch of short ideas about stroyline ideas for a high lvl in Eberron. |
| #6shady314Apr 03, 2008 5:09:27 | Send them to Riedra. Or Xendrik. Or Argonessen. |
| #7shady314Apr 03, 2008 5:20:36 | What happens when the PC's become the most powerful in the world (in terms of "man's society")? How do you keep things compelling and believable. You retire them. ![]() HEHE no but seriously when PC's reach a point you no longer feel there's a human force in the world that can stop them you either retire them or you abandon the trappings of human civilization. What would people do if they were on the level of a demi-god? Or more specifically what do your player's characters want to do now? They're still human beings with all the flaws and foibles but they have a power that approaches godliness. (To the vast majority of people) Ask each player separately and alone what their character wants to use all this power for. Then take what they say and see where that leads you. At this point they should be setting their own agenda and many forces in the world should be reacting to that. Which can be a very nice change of pace for PCs usually forced to constantly react to the BBEGs of the world. Bonus points if you find anyway to twist what they want to do into putting them into opposition with a normally "good" group that now considers them a BBEG. |
| #8mistress_of_mockeryApr 03, 2008 5:26:56 | If your PCs haven't already dealt with a bunch of the named threats (Vol, the Lord of Blades, the Becoming God, etc.) you can simply bump their levels up a notch without too much work. Either a Quori, a Daelkyr, or a Lord of Dust could've passed the bonds that keep them wherever it is they are. That could be pretty epic (again, think about increasing the CR of said Quori or Daelkyr). It mentions something about a Wild Hunt led by the fey leShay. I have no clue what that is but it is kickass interesting. The ever-fun 'Mournland' - how it happened and perhaps returning it to normal (thats probably a bad idea, returning it to normal). I read somewhere about the possibility of spreading. If your players have been away from home for a while (Xen'drik, Argonnessen [sp?], etc.) then the dead-gray could've spread quite a bit while they were gone. |
| #9mystrichApr 03, 2008 14:15:30 | I'm looking for lvl 20+ As you said, they are the most powerful, and unless every thing they've done so far is somehow very covert, they should have gained a name for themselves. Wayfounder's will want them to lead exploring parties, Vol/Emerald Claw may want them as supporters, even the dragons themselves have probably heard of them and will feel they may have new lackies to help further the Prophesy. |
| #10IskandrApr 06, 2008 11:48:55 | Dragons of Eberron I saw going to say that... ![]() Hmmm.... don't know of any threads but here are some ideas. The connection to Xoriat could have been reestablished and your PCs have to find a way to close it, while fighting off a second Daelkyr invasion. Argonneson would probably be worth while if you haven't gone their yet. I'm sure by now your PCs know about some of the dragon groups that are meddling in mortal affairs. Maybe you should show them the mortal races do fine on their own. Dal Quor seems like it would be interesting. Fight the Dreaming Dark. "The Forge of War" has neats ideas for time traveling campaigns. Maybe you could send your PCs back in time to see if they can stop the Day of Mourning, or at least figure out what caused it. Maybe you could take a philosophical route in your campaign, and your PCs could try and search for the Sovereign Host(to prove they are real, or to ascend?). They could run into a vast conspiracy that undermines even the Draconic Prophesy itself. |
| #11yadotApr 06, 2008 13:02:36 | There was a well-done thread a while ago that had many epic adventures for Eberron in it (maybe ieatrollsforbreakfast was the author, I'm not sure). But I can't seem to find it using search. Does anyone know what thread I'm remembering? |
| #12mistress_of_mockeryApr 06, 2008 14:14:47 | There was a well-done thread a while ago that had many epic adventures for Eberron in it (maybe ieatrollsforbreakfast was the author, I'm not sure). But I can't seem to find it using search. Does anyone know what thread I'm remembering? No. You're imagining things. ... *goes to check* [EDIT] Couldn't find anything by trollz. |
| #13ieattrollsforbreakfastApr 06, 2008 14:40:15 | There was a well-done thread a while ago that had many epic adventures for Eberron in it (maybe ieatrollsforbreakfast was the author, I'm not sure). But I can't seem to find it using search. Does anyone know what thread I'm remembering? Doesn't ring a bell, I've certainly not written an epic Eberron adventure. Whether I started a thread about it or not, or even written out a few plot hooks, I can't remember. Maybe you're thinking of the Spider Lords? They could count as an epic threat. It's a good idea for an article, though, it is a fairly often asked question. |
| #14yadotApr 07, 2008 15:24:41 | No, I guess I have the author wrong. It was a good quality thread and I associate your name with high quality stuff. ;) |
| #15dragonmagessApr 10, 2008 15:14:03 | I remember hearing something about a githyanki invasion as well, but have no idea where! Sorry! Some good ideas would revolve around the Lords of Dust and Khyber, tied in with the church of the Silver Flame and Jaela. A Daelkyr invasion into Sharn led by House Thuranni (whose Sharn base have been infiltrated by Psionics), combined with all the politics of Sharn. Riedra and the Draconic Prophecy are pretty broad based so something more specific might be needed. Then of course Eberron links to multiple planes so you could maybe start up a Spelljammer kind of campaign braving all the new worlds that connect to Eberron. There are definitely infinite possibilities and I rather like the interplanar one as there are some nice high level monsters that exist on other planes and even combining that with the draconic prophecy could be pretty awesome i.e. a certain planar artifact mentioned in a passage of the prophecies is required by a dragon and he/she sends you on your planar trip as you are mentioned somewhere in the prophecies (or at least the dragons assume so, for all their wisdom they don't fully understand the prophecy) Otherwise one of the planar boundaries is failing causing widespread environmental destruction and its up to the PCs to travel there and find out the problem. Those are rather simple scenarios I'm sure you can think of more. |
| #16skrap-sanApr 10, 2008 16:18:37 | I remember hearing something about a githyanki invasion as well, but have no idea where! Dragon magazine 309 have dedicated large parts of the mag to this planar invasion. Gives you ships and motivation and everything. |
| #17ehtiarApr 11, 2008 7:44:00 | Of course, there's always the other style of approach to epic going high level characters... Stop the adventures being about their powers, or out and out blappyness.. start hitting them with the politics and the pure roleplaying aspect of how much their "famous and awe-inspiring" characters can effect/influence things... When they reach that level they've got money, magics.. they're probably owning real-estate and business interests.. Any organisations they're involved in probably considers them movers and shakers.. So hit them with the areas they have to plot, plan, and talk..and can't just smash or fling firepower at ;) If they have to start acting as roving diplomats/ambassadors around the Five Nations to prevent the war breaking out again... Or the connections they have within whatever organisations they're linked with start to bite them with other people doing political power plays to take the leadership positions... When epic adventurers start acting as mentors and patrons for low-level adventuring groups... Plus the Chamber and anyone interested in the Prophecy is going to be keeping a firm eye on such figures of power and interest... Rakshasa temptations anyone? :D |
| #18Arcane_GuyverApr 12, 2008 2:38:26 | For some reason, I got the idea to have characters go through a big adventure, just to activate a doomsday device for a Lord of Dust. Then the PCs gotta go back in time to stop themselves, fighting inevitibles and forces of the Dust Lord in the proccess. Edit: Good God...not even sure where I was going with this at the time. At least I could fix the grammar. |
