| #1AvonRekaesJan 27, 2012 15:47:10 | Hello all! I've been stung by the DM bug again, and my new campaign will be, of course, in Eberron. The general theme of the campaign arc will be off-race Dragonmarks (every PC will recieve a bonus feat that's a dragonmark, and they get to pick whatever mark they want, regardless of their race) vs. the rising power of Aberrant Marks (Son of Khyber will be the shadowy mastermind behind a lot of the goings-on) with the eventual Epic Tier dealing with the waking of Khbyer itself and the potential sundering of Eberron. However, that's getting a little ahead of myself. Right now, the PCs are on your average "recover Cyran artifact for Prince Oragev" mission into the Mournland. I want to tie in the Mourning as a precursor to the Sundering, a preview of what's to come if the PCs don't stop the end of the world from happening. But I want them to work to figure out the cause of the Mourning, so I want to have multiple leads they could follow. Here are three I can think off/vaguely recall: 1. The City of Making was obliterated by an arcane catastrophe that formed the Glass Plateau, mutating the land around it into the Mournland. 2. The Dead-Gray Mists billowed forth from the depths of Metrol and raced north, south, and west, covering the land in it's sickly palor and corrupting everything it touched before reaching the borders of Thrane, Breland, and Darguun. 3. A hidden Cannith forgehold, or maybe even the Cannith HQ of Eston itself, was the actual epicenter of whatever caused the Mourning. Anyone have any other ideas? |

It may be best to release it from a number of separate locations, as a way to tip the PCs that this is not a localized phenomena. Sharn could be an interesting place for the deadly gray mists (/Khyber's breath) to vent - forcing the PCs to escape up (lava pools -> cogs -> lower -> middle -> upper) until only Skyway becomes an island of safety. |

Or it could be Planar perhaps the "planes aligned" per say an in a blast f planar chaos and power the mournland was created perhaps one of the factions warring over Shavarath finally one out and controlled the entire plane just long enough to use its mighty powere for some purpose but somehow it went terribly awry and devasted part of the mortal world. |
