Firstly, is Eberron a world like FR in that one can find novels? If so, any suggestions on where to start to get an understanding of Eberron? I used to be a drizzt fan as it is, I was a fan of a character that always thought deeply about right and wrong (although not as deep as I would have liked, but then again it IS a novel and not a thesis on existentialism), and would like to find a fantasy realm where people are deeper than simply 'monster race! kill kill kill!'. I'd read somewhere here that Eberron is a world where monster races (like gnolls) could still get a life between the 'goodly races' and it wasn't a strange sight (or at least I hope Eberron is so). I'm getting pretty tired of reading about adventurers who come across goblins or orcs, ask no questions and kill everything that moves, I'd rather read about a different fantasy realm, one that could also give me ideas for deeper DnD sessions (I honestly prefer RPing to combat).

Secondly, I have the first and second players handbooks and I have read no mention of monks but I've seen people talking about the class as though it had been published in possibly a different 4E book. If the class has been released, might I ask which book I can find it in?

Also, I keep reading about changelings, and have the monster manual yet see nothing about changelings so.....what's a changeling? :P

On Eberron, if anyone knows of novels that have one of the monster races as a goodly main character or characters that think deeply about morality and offer up their views I would like to kindly ask about the name of the book(s).

1. There are Eberron novels, but it is important to note that they are non-canonical. What you say about people being more accepting (if not totally so) of 'monstrous' races is fairly accurate.

2. The monk is in playtest form in Dragon Magazine.

3. Changelings are basically doppelgangers, though their abilities got some tweaks in the Eberron Player's Guide.

Yes, the main site lists all D&D products including novels, so you should be able to find the names there.

Here's an easy to follow link: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=products/dndlist&brand=eberron&year=All&tablesort=1

Though mentioned briefly in the Player's Handbook as a future class the monk is currently in playtest and will be released in the Player's Handbook 3.

Also, I keep reading about changelings, and have the monster manual yet see nothing about changelings so.....what's a changeling? :P

Changelings are also known as dopplegangers. They are listed in the back of the Monster Manuel page 276 and detailed in the Player's Guide to Eberron.
