I've had an Eberron Campaign idea bouncing around in my head for a while now, and having some extra time this semester, I've been considering running a second campaign, for those of us that have two free days a week, rather than just one, or who can't make the 'main' campaign time.

Currently, my plan is to start off with a single session taking place on the Day of Mourning, featuring characters a bit higher level, but RP connected to the main PCs.

Of course, they all die, and then we move on to the actual party, 4 years later, where they've come together to open up a heroic 'odd jobs' shop in Sharn. Think a combination Inquisitive, Courier, Bodyguard sorta service. Anything you might hire adventurers for, they'll do it.

I've wanted to get into the Eberron novels for a while now, and I was wondering if there's any novels that might help me brainstorm for my campaign.

Jan 06, 2010 16:50:21 I haven't read to many of the novels (I just can't devote time for more than a couple pages a night), but I am currently reading the first in the Dreaming Dark series and it is set in Sharn. I am currently running a campaign that is almost identical to your thoughts (replace odd jobs with small magic/alchemical shop) and have stolen a few ideas already.

Jan 09, 2010 10:32:15 Left hand of doom is set in Sharn, and follows this detective dude around as he solves mysteries and do crazy stuff. Might be worth a read, it isnt really the best book out there, but its decent enough and deals quite specific with the ideas you need.

Jan 10, 2010 8:49:25 Yeah, I wasn't a fan of Left Hand of Doom and When Night Falls. I despise the main character.

Night of Long Shadows, in the Inquisitives series, is set in Sharn.

Of the other books, well, the Inquisitives series is fantastic, as is Heirs of Ash, and the Binding Stone trilogy.

Seriously, I replaced almost my entire 1st edition AD&D collection through them. I went there in person, but they have online options, too.

My novel, The Darkwood Mask, has only a single chapter in Sharn.

But yes, I'd say Keith's City of Towers is the best novel resource for Sharn depiction. He ought'a know.

Sadly, yeah, many of the novels are already out of print. Including the Dragon Below trilogy, which is a crying shame. (Book 3 of which is set in Sharn, by the way.) A lot of them are still available on Amazon, despite this fact.

But yes, I'd say Keith's City of Towers is the best novel resource for Sharn depiction. He ought'a know.

Most of them are going onto Kindle though, for which I'm excited XD

The only novel's ive found at half price books are the first two books of the Lost Mark series. They were good reads, I did not know that changelings could NOT appear as a Warforge. That is VERY KEY to being able to tell a changeling over a normal person or warforge.

We have been able to aquire all of the 3.5 books from amazon and the various used bookstores in the metro area here in minneapolis for just a hair under halfpriced.. sure we coulda found them cheeper but we like the world and wanted the creator's to get more then a couple cents for the books.

Mar 21, 2010 19:11:21 Matt Forbeck's lost Mark trilogy & the previously mentioned 'Dragon Below' & it's sequals are must read. I just went to Powells in Portland & saw the Dragon Below & lost mark series are currently both in. Also check www.bn.com , I'm sure you can order them there too. Keith Baker's Thorn of Breland series is turing out good too.
