Is there anywhere other than the Weapons of Legacy Eberron Expanded where there is reference to or mention of the axe? Mostly I'm just looking for type of axe and description of, since I run 4e so mechanics (which I don't believe exist anywhere anyway) are sort of irrelevent. Hypothetical abilities are always nice though.

Maybe it was a Sarlonan handaxe (or maybe flavor a Khopesh?).

AFAIK, I made up Redwave for that article and you won't find mention of it elsewhere. Personally, I thought of it as a greataxe (or perhaps even an execution axe under 4E) - a massive weapon reflecting the strength and brutality of the wielder.

just noticed that in the Dolurrh’s Dawn article it said:

Malleon is a brutal soldier, but he doesn’t remember how he learned to use the greataxe;

Well, that article was written before Martial Power. I think the executioner's axe is way more fitting, and that's the axe I'm recommending to my player who is playing Malleon in a Dolurrh's Dawn game I'm running right now. She has yet to join, but the other players (playing Cael and Ashalyn) will have fun when a Defender type finally joins the group, and is dishing out mass damage all about. Brutal is a nasty weapon quality, and one quite fitting for Malleon.
