The purpose of this thread is to provide a forum to brainstorm ideas for adapting Revenge of the Giants to Eberron.  Considering the unique history of giants in Eberron, there are some tweaks that need to be made in order for the adventure to feel like it's Eberrony.

I haven't done anything more than skim it yet, but some of the obvious adaptations include:

1.  Setting the adventure in Xen'drik.  Not sure it really could be anywhere else.

2.  The Primordial is one of the Rakasha Rajas.

3.  It looks like the drow are aligned with the giants in parts.  Since the drow were former slaves of the giants I'm not sure this makes sense.  However, perhaps the Sulatar could be involved...I'd have to look into this more.

4.  In my campaign I'm planning on having the time travel portion involve Vol instead of Acerak.  That should put the hate-on later. :-)

5.  Argent could simply be Stormreach.

I am planning on using this for Eberron too.  Keep your ideas flowing, I too will need to adapt this to Eberron.

At the moment I am reading it with an eye of adapting it to the home campaign I am running which is set in Birthright. The adventure builds really heavily on the core setting in regards to the war between the primordials and the gods as well as the planar lay-out. The plot hook of a city overlooking the elemental chaos as an eternal guardpost against the primordials once supported, no abandoned, also rely heavily on the point of light concept. Adapting this adventure to Eberron (let alone Birthright) is going to require a lot of work, and in some cases the need to strip all fluff to the bare bone mechanics and replace it with new stuff.

The simples adaption would indeed be to set the adventure on Xendrik due to the heavy presence of giants. It also requires the least amount of work. I would not make the primordial a rajah - too obvious, and giants are not all that into demon worship. I would make him an ancient titan king, one of the old rulers imprissoned by the dragons during the destruction of the continent. The giants of Xendrik are being united, and the gods' machine is actually build to remove the dragon's curse on the continent, something which would wreak havoc on Eberron due to the magical backslash. Argent would be a guardian city build by the dragons to guard against this eventuallity, and it was originally inhabited by dragonborn servants of the dragons instead of those lion-like race. The dragons also recruited champions from other races, and the nearly dead human wizard is in fact an elder dragon who cannot leave the city.

The other things you would need to change is the acquiring of allies. The human, goblin and dwarf kingdoms could be replaced with uniting three important factions in Stormreach (possible acquiring support from countries in Khorvaire), although you would need to change the nature of the skill challenge as well. The eladrin allience could be replaced by drow, again, forcing some changes in the skill challenge. Flotsom would be a local hamlet at the southern end of the continent, and the part set in Elemental Chaos (the frost giants) would be set in the frostfell region of Xendrik (with the imprisoned primordial being a rajah). The astral giants would work as servants of the dragons, who as in the original adventure switched sides during the war and who now live in the Astral sea. Finally, Acerak could be anybody. To be honest though, I really dislike that part of the adventure. Traveling in time to acquire starmetal? Really? I probably would replace that with an expedition to some ruin in Xendrik or to the house of a warlord of Droaam (anything would work as long as the inhabitent would not care all that much about Xendrik). I really hate time travel, especially since the only reason seem to be to use Acerak.

You would need to come up with a reason why the dragons do not get involved, but I think that their attitude towards the problem would be the same as that of the gods in the adventure. The PCs appear to be perfectly capable of being champions. So why get their own hands dirty? And obviously, those pesky giants would never be able to remove the curse... Of course, you need to give the PCs a reason to aid the dragons, but impressing the vile nature of the giants (and the titans that once ruled Xendrik) as well as showing how dangerous building the godmachine is should do the trick.

Personally, though, I am not much of a fan of Xendrik. I prefer the much more political active Khorvaire. It would definitely require a lot more work, but to me it would be more rewarding. Maybe I will post my thoughts on this later on when I have more time ;)

I want the Primordial to exist on EB. Perhaps they existed before the dragons ran the show before the Age of Demons. Then the dragons came and chased them off. I wanted to do a campaign based off of an elemental invasion set in EB since I wanted to use a new BBEG/Organization besides the Daelkyr/DD/LOD. I may have to pick up this book and see how it is and how I can steal ideas from it.

So perhaps the Primodials could be similar to how they were in the Core stuff but they were chased off the planet due to the dragons and sealed away due to epic dragon magic.

Why add another 'ancient evil that is trapped in Khyber/Elemental Chaos' when the Rakasha Rajahs would do the job just as well?  It seems to me that Piranoth works perfectly fine as a trapped Rajah.

This is true, and it's why I started the thread.

The simples adaption would indeed be to set the adventure on Xendrik due to the heavy presence of giants. It also requires the least amount of work. I would not make the primordial a rajah - too obvious, and giants are not all that into demon worship. It seems to me that the Dominion of Purity (City of Stormreach p125) would be a good main bad group that is resulting in the Giant Alliance.  The Fire Giants can be represented by the Battlaion of Basalt Towers.

Since there's so much good fluff already in existence for Eberron I want to use as much of it as possible, even over-riding some of the fluff in the RotG adventure.

Having the BBEG be a Titan king is an interesting idea, and possibly more appropriate for a Paragon level adventure.  Still, Piranoth is only supposed to be in a weakened state at the end, so being a Rajah still fits too.  Especially if you go with the idea that the Voice of the Titans is actually a fiend (say the Exarch of Piranoth?)

giants of Xendrik are being united, and the gods' machine is actually build to remove the dragon's curse on the continent, something which would wreak havoc on Eberron due to the magical backslash.

I still might have Argent as is, but with Stormreach being the main PC base in my campaign, I'm going to try having it replace Argent in this adventure.  Another change might be to actually take the Scar that Abides out and put Piranoth in as the Rajah buried under Stormreach.

I kind of like the idea of Stormreach acting in Eberron as Babylon 5 did in that show.  Another thing I'll probably add is some of the 'siege' stuff from the King of the Trollhaunt Warrens (which I didn't run).

The other things you would need to change is the acquiring of allies. The human, goblin and dwarf kingdoms could be replaced with uniting three important factions in Stormreach (possible acquiring support from countries in Khorvaire), although you would need to change the nature of the skill challenge as well. Agreed.  The alliances would need to be different, and the drow would be front and centre.  Not sure what to do about Flotsam, etc, but the part with the Frost Giants could just be a manifest zone of Risia, and Flotsam a village close to it.

I haven't really figured out what to do about the Astral Giants, but you're right, it could be best just to have them allied to the dragons.  If you want to keep it on Eberron you could place them in Argonessen or in Iolokar.

The torrians I don't know what to do about at all yet.  I might just re-skin them as another giant type who had a mini-empire at Stormreach and then disappeared mysteriously.

The Sulatar as the drow allies of the giants I think are almost a shoe in.  You'd just have to ignore the animosity between them and the Bastion as indicated in Secrets of Xen'drik.

Well, in my campaign, the PC's have a low-burning competition with Vol and the Emerald Claw.  I've also already had some minor time travel...so having the PC's go back in time and deal with her would amp up the hate on her side.  Also, I wouldn't use skymetal...instead Eberron dragonshards.

That said, there really isn't any good reason for them to go back in time...increasing the hate _now_ works just fine too.  :-)

You would need to come up with a reason why the dragons do not get involved, but I think that their attitude towards the problem would be the same as that of the gods in the adventure. The

I think that's pretty easy.  The Prophecy says the dragons aren't to get involved. 'nuff said. :-)

One semantic thing I'm going to change is the term 'divine engine' to 'eldritch machine'.  I've glanced ahead and seen the exarchs of the gods, so I'll have to deal with them too.
