roleplaying revenants in eberron

Hi, folks. The character (dwarven artificer) of a player in my campaign bit the dust during a tough fight (the first big fight in Ashurta's tomb, for those familiar with the Seekers of the Ashen Crown) and, considering the investment the player made in crafting a detailed backstory and the Shadowfell links of the area where the death occurred, we decided mutually that it would be fun to have the character reanimate as a revenant after the group's extended rest rather than have the player craft a new character. Luckily, the characters were soon whisked away from the metropolis into the wilds, so there hasn't been much social interaction since this event. Yet.

But the campaign arc will see the group and the character spend much of their adventuring careers, etc. in Sharn. I wonder, both from my perspective as a DM and the player's perspective, how we might flavor the campaign (social interactions, etc.) to make the character's unusual existence fun/interesting/appropriate to his uniquely undead nature (in the sense that, yes, there are undead in Karrnath, and "whatever fits in D&D has a place in Eberron," but your average citizen of Sharn isn't interacting with undead on a daily basis). What ideas do you have?

Many thanks!

You could fluff the revenant as a kind of extreme self forge: the dwarf is keeping his fast deteriorating body in check using his artifice skills. For example the heart was replaced with  a Khyber shard powered device and like the movie Crank he is running around Sharn keeping his 'heart' rate from dropping or casting spells to discharge excess arcane power buildups in his body or just looking for more forged parts to replace failing limbs...

This sparks a flurry of ideas, Gilo! The player has already planned on the self-forged paragon path, so this helps build on that in a way tied to adventure events. Thanks!

Any other ideas, folks? Especially with regard to how this character will be perceived by NPC inhabitants of the world. What would the captain of the King's Citadel notice and think when the heroes check in with a mission report? How does the local innkeeper feel about housing such an individual? Is the character stopped at the threshhold despite an invitation to an ir'Tain gala? Will the character develop a reputation of mystique among the denizens of Khyber's Gate? Etc., etc?

What other ideas do you have that will make this a fun and flavorful development but not one that unfairly penalizes the character in any way?

Or alternativey you could have a powerful necromancer transform him into a revennant ( Blood of Vol comes to mind or possibly a member of the Crimson Covenant or maybe Erandis herself) just food for thought. Anyways perhaps there is some sort of price if the dwarf makes a deal with a necromancer.
