MY FLGS WILL HAVE MINE IN THIS FRIDAY SIR!

And when I have that book, my lovely book, I will use it to make games so fun that my players will forgo their XBoxes, forgo their PS3s, forgo their Wii and their false gods of entertainment on the false-light-boxes, and beg, nay DEMAND a game a week!

I'll be getting it soon. I'm not going to be running 4th edition anytime soon so its not a priority. I just want it for the fluff.

Proud owner, copy still stuck in the UK, so waiting for shipment :-) Saw it today in my FLGS and it looked awesome. I almost ruined the copy from drooling on the map at the back.

Now, where are the PDFs again?

Sir, yes, sir. I have acquired the document.

Along with Seekers of the Ashen Crown, I have LOTS of fun reading to do this summer before the school year begins. I love how smoothly things seem to flow, with (fun-at-first-blush) monsters/NPCs included in the areas with which they're connected rather than referenced in the text and blobbed together at the end.

Show
Also... LOVE that the sewer valves encounter has returned with 4E mechanics. I'm currently DMing a 4E-translated "Forgotten Forge" adventure, and the heroes will be plunging into Dorasharn tomorrow night. Good, poo-ey times ahead.

I apparently got mine in the mail yesterday, but didn't realize. First thing I did was painstakingly remove the map so I can go get it laminated.

So seriously thrilled! :D

Minor disappointment was the lack of a stat block for Sheshka, having just finished reading HC's QoS. I suppose i can always make one myself based on one of the MM medusae and comparing the other warlords with thier basic versions. The only question being how powerful do I want her... I recall her being only a Ran4 in the ECS. Can't wait for the next Thorn book, or a continuation of the Dreaming Dark series, of which i find myself needing to re-read. Does anyone recall Daine's relationship to the gnome girl in sharn?

I absolutely love the writeup of The Trust :D

In thinking about her character in the novel, I was certainly thinking her as being more than the sum of monster and level... just as Sora Maenya's stats in the Dragonshard make her more than just a barbarian. Sheshka might be a medusa, she might be a ranger with bow specialty... but she's also the Queen of Stone, and my thought is that this is more than just a title; it's a reflection of the fact that she has greater powers than other medusas. The fact that a normal stone to flesh won't restore her victims is an example of this. So she should be weaker than the Daughters themselves... but certainly a force to be reckoned with.

I whole heartedly agree. I'm using the existing medusae as a base template starting point. Give her a few more flavorful powers to make her significant, keeping in mind the fact that she is unlikely to be unprotected, given her pets at the minimum, and the chances of finding her outside her own territory and not surrounded by other medusae, just getting to her is a challenge. The rest is DM roleplaying a strong charismatic leader.

I got my book in early...but I didn't see this thread till today.

I'm glad I managed to stall combat for just one more session. I was going to set the PCs against Karrnathi Skeletons. I had my own lvl 3 elite versions brewed up (since the party is level 3) but then I saw that the "official" ones are level 11. So Now I'm working on making the lvl 3 elite ones feel more like the level 11 ones without sending the party to it's doom...Then again...

It is mine at last, and I must say it is quite nicely organized. Putting new monsters and such in their relevant sections, for instance, was a nice touch.

And I'm loving the map of Khorvaire. The party I'm in is already using it to figure out where we've been sent after a botched portal trip and to plan our journey home.

You can certainly make your own variations, just as the dolgaunt stats represent a single dolgaunt - while the Khyber's Harvest adventure shows another level of them.

With that said, the point of the intelligent Karrnathi undead is that they are elite forces, created through a special ritual and only possible using the corpses of exceptional Karrnathi soldiers who have died in battle (which is why they don't just slaughter their own troops and make lvl 11 Karrnathi undead out of them), The bulk of Karrnath's undead troops are the traditional skeletons and zombies you see in the MM; the other types are their exceptional troops.

I posted that in the Seekers- thread, but hopefully somebody can help me out here.

I need a monster list of the Eberron adventure in the ECG and Seekers of the Ashen Crown.

I'll be running an Eberron campaign when on holidays overseas but won't be able to get either item before I actually get there. However, I'd like to get the right minis.

I don't need an exact listing, and of course I'll pack typical Eberron- monsters like dolgrims, dolgaunts and warforged. But anything out of the ordinary - please, please - somebody post it.

Thanks,
Michael

Got mine two days ago. The EPG was my first ever Eberron purchase (I'd been DMing homebrews for > 15 years, and had run a few FR and Dark Sun games in 2e), but I've been hooked since about 30 pages into it--btw, I read the EPG cover-to-cover in one sitting on the release day. Good times.

Anyways, the ECG has only made me love the setting even more. The layers upon layers of pure awesome in this setting are mind-blowing. Very complex, very progressive in comparisson to every other setting I've seen, but... still so D&D. I love all of the breaks from old standbys--for instance, the concept of an Age of Monsters where Goblins were the dominant society. Awesome. Simple? Absolutely. But... no less awesome. Orcs with a druidic bent? More Awesome. Halflings on dinosaurs? Like I need to say anything about THAT. Elves... I love Eberron elves.

I'm having an incredible time planning an Eberron campaign right now for a single PC, and am about to start developing another one for group play.

I think the most brief way to explain my enthusiasm and amazement with this setting is this:

It's so EASY to have any kind of game you could want to play, all in this one setting.

Edited to add: I have a long history of hating halflings and gnomes because of their stereotypes. I've always recognized that they had the potential to be amazing, but were so frequently played the same way.

Eberron has given me a brand new love of halflings and gnomes.

I never notice these sorta threads until they're on (like) page 5 or so. Late to the show but yeah, I'm loving the Eberron Campaign Guide (snatched it up, day one) ;).

We're playing some games but there's so much to learn about Eberron; it's very different from most D&D settings I've became familiar with over the years. I am most certainly not complaining ;).

Death by poison beats the hell out of 'death by standing too close to big-nosed elderly shrimp's malfunctioning corn shucker when it detonates'.

On behalf of... presumably everyone... thank you for not giving the Mark of Making to gnomes. That probably would have Jar Jar'd the entire setting.

You shouldn't fear The Trust, The Trust has the best interest of the people of Zilargo at heart. The only reason you should fear The Trust is if you plan on harming the people of Zilargo, and why would you want to do that? The people of Zilargo are your friends, they're everyone's friends, and The Trust is the people of Zilargo's friends, ergo the Trust is your friend. As your friend The Trust wants to make sure you keep yourself out of trouble.

Its for your own good really.

I got a copy. I'm on vacation traveling west through the South-Central US in my car.

It took calling Barnes & Noble Bookstores in three different states.

I started looking in Tennessee but all of them only had the player's guide. Arkansas had the exact same story. Eastern Texas again had plenty of player's guides but no campaign guide. Dallas didn't have anything either but the lady I talked to pointed out that one store in the area around Dallas had a copy of the campaign guide. I traveled to Fort Worth, TX to discover that the B&N there not only had the ECG, they had seven copies. And to further add to the irony they didn't have a single copy of the EPG. I had to drive ten minutes up the road to the other store in Fort Worth to get that one. *sigh*

Oh well, at least I found it eventually.

Reading through it as we speak. I like it a lot. It's a good book.

The art is terrible though. It saddens me that the 3.5 Eberron books had some of the best D&D art I have ever seen.
But the 4e books are really ugly art wise. It's really too bad.
