| #1WickMay 26, 2010 11:41:37 | If you are one of my players stay out!!! I am considering running my group through a modified version of Pyramid of Shadows. I was thinking of setting it within Droaam near The Venomous Demesne and tying it to a plot by the Lords of Dust. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

I altered the adventure when I ran it, however: I started the PCs off in it, and their objective became to unlock its secrets in order to (1) find out why they were put there as well as how and by whom and (2) escape it in one piece. I also treated the Pyramid itself like a living entity -not only was it the place of their incarceration, it wanted to prevent their escape and took what active measures it could to that end. Not only did those changes make the adventure feel much more alive, but it also lent a disturbing air to the situation when the PCs know the building itself is trying to keep them in. As to the location... anywhere could work, really. The Pyramid could as easily be located in the marshes of Droaam as the jungles of Q'barra as the Blade Desert as the Cogs of Sharn... and I think the more insidious the location, the better. What if the PCs emerged from the the alien and deadly ecology of the Pyramid only to discover that they were in a place thought safe: what if it exited beneath Graywall, or into Fairhaven's sewers, or perhaps sat below Flamekeep or even Thronehold? Or maybe the ways in and out of it move with the whim and will of the Pyramid itself, so that it spits them back out into the world and then the door vanishes, off to snatch some other unsuspecting victim form somewhere else in the world. ...hm. I think I might need to run H3 again. |
